Review on a few new items I added

I added some accessories to make towing a bit more enjoyable just before leaving on a two week trip from Michigan to Yellowstone. Here's a short review:

Rejex: Worked extremely well. Some type of gnat was reproducing in Montana and we drove through clouds of them. Add that to all the bugs that met their end over 4,500 miles and two weeks, we had a pretty thick layer of bug crud on the truck and trailer. The truck's nose took a bit of scrubbing with a Love Bug Eraser, but the splats on the trailer washed of easily with a soft brush (really hard to reach the top of that fiberglass nose cone).

Oxygenics Showerhead: Took me six years to get around to buying one of these. Works as well as I've heard. You can actually take a shower using the water pump. Old standard shower barely produced a dribble.

Eyeball Camera: This fit my needs to find a backup camera that didn't need permanent installation. Really cuts down on the hopping in and out of the truck. My new ProPride hitch likes to be aligned very close and this camera helps me do that quickly and easily.

ProPride 3P Hitch: I was extremely skeptical of the claims on this hitch, even after three friends bought 3P hitches. I figured that nothing could work as well as they said. I even drove up to ProPride (about an hour from me) and talked to Sean. He said bring it back anytime I'm unhappy with it. I will not be returning this. On the entire trip, I felt exactly one semi pass me. He was carrying a gigantic load that was wide and very high. All others passed without any drama, no shoving me over and pulling me back. Never felt the wind gusts, even in areas with 30-35 MPH (according to my smartphone).

I'm a big tightwad, but I'm glad I invested in these.
  • The IBall was what I was about to get before I got my new truck. I now have the factory backup camera and absolutely love it. I can now hook up my trailer on one back up shot. Made life just a little bit simpler..
  • Thanks for the information. I went to their site and watched the video. I think it may do what I want.

  • mbutts;

    What eyeball camera system are you using? Make, model number, where bought, etc.

    I have been thinking about buying a portable backup camera system that I can set in the bed of my pickup truck as I back under the truck camper. I am hoping that I can align the truck and camper using the camera. The trailer hitch at the back of the truck is about 24 inches ahead of the back of the camper. Again, I would like to use that same camera that I would temporarily locate near the ball as I back into the trailer. When I Google Eyeball camera systems, I get units that sell from $29 to $299. I would prefer a wireless system as long as it gives a reliable useable picture. That way I don't have to deal with cables.

    Thanks,

  • Thanks for the reviews. Been thinking about a new shower head.

    Money spent on a good hitch is never wasted.
  • Glad for the reviews especially the first two. Spent some of last week doing Rejex on my front cap, it gets the first test in two weeks. Also am waiting for the same shower head to show up and will have it installed befor the next trip.
  • Thanks for the reviews.....that's sorta what this forum is for:)
    I've got the shower head....have had it for 2 years, but haven't installed it. Of course, we haven't use the RV in 2 years (DW had hip replacment, so we stayed home)....I'll be putting it in soon!
