f the surge protector fails, you just unplug it and plug the range cord into the outlet. If you change Rv's , you can take this set up with you.

My PI HW50C plan: Hasn't failed in 11 years so I haven't used the bypass switch. It's now in my second rig and can easily be moved to a third. Being able to see the voltage, amps and faults inside is a plus for me.
The HW50C in my rig cost $0, yup nothing, nada. OK it did cost some bucks in the first rig and within months protected me from 160V and so paid for itself many time over that day alone.
Both of my installations were adjacent to the ATS and did not involve cutting any wires. ie Remove the HW50C and the rig is back to the factory setup.
