tailgater satelite

Was wondering if anyone out there has problems with there tailgater and dish reciever?? I havent been able to get service after the first time with my dish receiver and tailgater. Dish has told me I need to update my reciever but I dont have dish at home so I am unable to do this ? Any one have ideas or similar problems??
