Good details, man! It sounds like you have the safety aspect nailed. FWIW, I set off the smoke alarm inside my TT last week, while soldering. I'm guessing they are making them very sensitive, now.
It is amazing how little heat is needed when you have a shell of foam around you. I think you'll find that heating your cocoon will be very efficient.
