Winch install in TH

Thought I would share my winch install in my 5th wheel toy hauler.

Thanks to Fishbreath for providing his pictures and information.

purchased a 2500 ATV winch kit from the local store $110.00 on sale.

other items purchased. longer cable 7' red, 8' black, connectors, inline fuse and a switch from the local auto store. had everything else at home, misc wire, screws, 3/4 tubing, 1" angle iron 1" flat stock, 3"x8" sheet stock.

total cost $200.00 if you would have had to purchase everything.

a few tips.

mount the winch as high as you can. I started from the cargo hold to determine how high I could mount and transferred those measurements to inside the coach.

I made the opening large enough to get my hand in there to engauge/disengauge the clutch.

here are some pictures.

  • I remember our 2nd Weekend Warror had the winch option factory installed. At the time we ordered the trailer I had no need for it, but that quickly changed.

Wonder why more trailer mfg's don't have it as an option.
  • I just bought one from habor frieght atv model for 50.00 on sale I am going to rig it up to close and lower ramp door. Backs getting to bad to do it any more. Waiting for cooler weather before that one gets done.
