2015 5th Wheelers with Furrion Backup Camera

Looking to talk to folks who have a 2015 Keystone 5th wheeler for sure (mine is a Montana)that came with a factory installed Furrion (that is the manufacturer) backup camera.

Apparently what has happened is that Keystone for sure and some other companies have installed the backup cameras wrong on some of the 2015 trailers that came with this camera as standard equipment. There is no switch and no fuse that can turn it off, it is hotwired permanently on. When you talk to the Furrion tech service they acknowledge that many of their backup cameras are wired wrong. My camera is on ALL THE TIME whether connected to the truck or simply parked. As long as there is power it is on. It was supposed to be active only when connected to the truck and in reverse gear! It will burn out. This camera was never designed to be on constantly.

Anyone have this issue?

If its a monitor its not a very good one. Mine will loose signal going down the road every 8 seconds for a second and then come back on. For backing up it does ok.

Extend your antenna from the camera to the front cap of your 5er and you'll have no more problems.

That's a lot easier said than done. I don't really need it going down the road so I think wiring it to a marker light would work even though I do have reverse lights on the camper. The marker light wires would be close and easy to get to. Flip on the lights when backing in and done.

Update on backup camera. I cannot believe it but Furrion sent me a complete replacement observation camera and monitor for the new trailer. It took about 5 minutes to replace camera on the back of the trailer and a minute to establish the "pair". The bandwidth of this signal is so good I could see individual rain drops falling. And I don't understand how or why but it is OK for this type of camera to be wired on all the time.

It has not been fixed on the 2016's either. Mine stays on all the time also. I like the idea above about wiring it to a clearance light.

My dealer touted it as a monitor vs. backup...thus on all the time.

On the Furrion website the FOS48TA-BL

Wireless Observation System has the same camera...why doesn't it burn out if left on?

I guessing some miss information...?

Mines wired in to the center clearance light on the back of the camper. Lights on= camera on. I usually always drive with running lights on anyway.
