I am thinking of
going from a 34.8 ft Everest which is 11.5k loaded to a Big Horn 3160 35.6 ft which will be 13.5 loaded. I know I will be over pin weight around 500lbs . The combined weight is within specs of truck. Just wanted to see if anyone else is carrying this weight on 2500HD diesel and how has it been.
Thanks Dennis
When you say the Big Horn, which will be loaded to 13,500#, is that a "guesstimate" or is it trucks GVW?
I towed an 04' Coachmen Somerset 3 slide with an 03' 2500HD extended cab/long bed/D/A 4X4 which had a GVWR of 9200#...5er had a GVW of 14,500#....loaded to 13,600#....I also had air bags on this truck to help level this load out....Truck towed it OK, considering I was doing my towing in the mountains of WV, TN, NC, SC and VA....but when I weighed, I found out I was 900# over the trucks GVWR, though NOT over the trucks RAWR....ended up purchasing an 05 1 ton dually, but that was back in 05....old tech for now a days..
I'd look to see what the 5er's GVW is.. When I was towing, I definitely "knew it was back there". Again, do the math and some common sense and go from there.
