5'ver Tires

I have a 2007 30' Arctic Fox 5'ver. A few years after I bought it I noticed one of my ST tires bulging out. After reading many horror stories of the ST tires blowing out I replaced them all with Michelin XPS Rib tires because they are heavy duty and have strong sidewalls. Shortly after that I had to go back to work (I'm retired) which turned out to be about 3 years and I never took my 5'ver out. I recently took it out for a month long vacation and even though I had no trouble I did wonder about those tires sitting on the paved storage yard ground for four years. They were covered during storage and hold pressure good but I thought I'd ask you guys about your storage experience. Those ROP tires are much heavier (weight wise) than the stock ST tires.
  • The Michelin XPS Rib is a great tire. I've run them under previous 5th wheels with never a problem. Having said that, I have no idea how they are going to perform after sitting for 3 years. Good luck!!

  • Mine are about 4 years old. No cracks and they are just fine. Maybe you want to have the balance checked to make sure they didn't flat spot from sitting. I would have no problem using them. They are a truck tire and can also be used on a truck if you decide to change them out. No need to just throw them out..

  • For peace of mind I would change them and sell the old ones on Craig's List to offset the cost.

OP I would replace any tire that has sat for 3-4 years.

Thats what I do with my LT/P tires I remove from my trailers after 7-9 years and 40-55k miles.
Lots of lawn service/utility trailer/farm trailer owners looking for a used set.
