50amp to 30amp newb question

No you'll still have power to all of your outlets. You might not be able to run several appliances and electronics at the same time due to the reduce available amp rating. For example on 50AMP we can run the AC and washer at the same time. On 30AMP service only one or the other can run.

Everything should remain the same, except that you can only run two major appliances instead of three. For example, if you can run the microwave, two airconditioners and a hair dryer on 50A, then you can only run the microwave and one air conditioner on 30A. OK, all the rest of you, its just an example...

The adapter splits the incoming power and applies it to both legs of the 50A service.

Great, thanks! I've always had 30amp on my other campers and I'm used to being "frugal" with power consumption on 30 amp service.

Here is a neat wiring diagram showing the 30A to 50A adapter in use. Like said above all circuit will have 120VAC power applied but you will only have a 30AMP source of 120VAc power. Note the two HOT LEADS are tied together in the Adapter.

The 50-AMP service actually applies 50A service for the two legs totaling up to 100AMPs...

So you can see from this you will really have to watch what you will be using at the same time on both circuits... Obvisouly the Air Conditioners and the High wattage Microwave unit will be something you may want to not use at same time with other 120VAC appliances etc...

Some have added an aux receptacle somewhere near the power cord entrance and run a separate extension cord and plug it into the 15-20a recep in the pedestal.

In our case that’s under the bed near the bathroom so a hair dryer can be plugged in and still have both ACs on.

Also plug the water boiler into it.

i do as the Big Katuna so i can keep the electric heater off the 30 amp camper service.

We have a 50amp FW and no, we can't run both AC's on 30amp. When camping at FS CG's with only 30amp, we run our fireplace and TV at the same time and just take care in running the MW and/or hairdryer at the same time. With 50amp it's all baby! (if I want)

That depends on how many amps the two AC's take and what else is drawing power. No matter what your running, the breaker trips when you exceed 30 amps±.
