5th Wheel Hitch cart

I had seen a while back maybe in Trailer Life or some other publication a plan for a 5th Wheel hitch cart. Very simple construction with castors etc that you could build to just below your tailgate height and easily off-load your hitch when taking it out and setting on the cart for ease of storing in whatever corner of your garage or shop when the hitch is not in use or during winter months. I cannot find now and curious if anyone has any plans on a simple cart of this purpose?
Just put a new B&W 18k Companion hitch in my 2014 - F350 and before next winter would like to come up with something for this.

I remove the top off my B&W and then slide the base over the edge of the tailgate. While it's standing vertically I wig-wag walk into place and store it standing and ready to walk out for the next trip.

Got an engine hoist on sale for $99 (with an engine stand, which I later sold) and a 1,000 lb furniture dolly for $20. Only thing I had to do was to have a welder extend the boom a bit to reach to the center of the bed over the tailgate. Works for me.

Made my own. No plan. Just built it. Get some 2X4's, 2 locking , and 2 unlocking castors, a 30X30 1/2" Ply wood and some screws. An hours work.

The HF dollies don't have locking castors. The locking castors are much better to use.
There ya go,simple.
I did the same thing.
Build it yourself. It will be stronger that way and cost 1/4 the price and be the hieght and size you want.
I have a superglide pullrite hitch.Weighs north of 325.I have a electric hoist from harbor freight for 90 bucks some webbing and I lift it up,pull my truck out from under it and put it down on my dolly and put in the corner of garage.Takes less then five minutes whole operation.

Not familiar with the article you saw, but it should be easy to build up. My advice would be to start with a furniture dolly from Harbor Freight. They are very inexpensive. You probably couldn't buy the castors for their price for the whole thing. Then just build up whatever box on it that you wish. I just set mine down on the HF dolly and don't worry about adding height to it.

Those HF Dolly's are awesome! I would do just as stated above.

I use to use a rubber maid cart I got off a job, Almost sits as high as the tailgate when down , slid it into / out off the bed , then wheeled it into the garage. I do it that way when I have to take it out of the truck. But since I have a bed cover it just stays there all the time , locked down of course.
The older I get , the heaver it gets , I don't muscle it any more.

alot of folks will just pull the pins in the truck bed and let the hitch stay connected with the fifth wheel... It will hang there forever haha...

I have even seen a couple of these this way at a camp ground...

It certainly is a two man task to mule one out of the back of the truck...

Shouldn't be too hard to come up with a four wheel cart of some sort to sit one on for storage. They only weight 150 lbs or so...
