Picked up our new 2016 ram 3500 today ...our old ram 2003 has a husky slider that we have only used four times since we've only had our fifth wheel since last fall...The new truck has the factory installed puck system in it.....I have researched the companion hitch but was wondering if there is any others that would work for our truck. Seems like the companion only comes in one size 25,000 pounds our trailer is approximately 16,000 ...would like to keep the price down as much as possible ...we had to upgrade our tow vehicle and We have a wedding to pay for this year so finances are getting tight ...thanks

Shame we are so far apart, I have a B&W 3600 for sale that I would make affordable but shipping costs would destroy the savings ๐Ÿ˜ž

Ron,

I don't think so - I don't believe B&W has an adapter post for the Ram gooseneck receptacle. They probably figure that if you have the gooseneck & 5th wheel prep package, you'll go with the higher-rated RVK3600 like you and I have done. It really looks to me like, if the OP doesn't use his/her current hitch, they'll be spending just about as much to buy a picture frame adapter and another hitch as they would buying the RVK3600.

"Discovered that the Curt is a little more temperamental coupling and uncoupling"

As I mentioned on your other post Curt and Reese can be difficult to hitch. IMHO If the $1,159 is too much for the puck system Companion I would do as MeAgain suggests and get the Demco Picture frame adapter and use your hitch. Personally i would sell what you have and buy the B&W. You will thank me!

Does anyone know if the B&W 20K Companion will work with the gooseneck part of the RAM? If so that would be a good option also.

Thank you for all the great info here it looks like depending on which hitch we go with it could almost be less expensive to get a new hitch versus getting the picture frame for our current hitch so I'll do some research thank you so much for this information....

I bought the Curt for my new 350 with the puck system. They have several different weight variations. I had the Husky before getting the Curt. Discovered that the Curt is a little more temperamental coupling and uncoupling, but other than that I'm extremely happy with it. I bought the 24,000 on line for around 800.

I have the Demco 6099 picture frame which I think is much better than the Reese one. Better lock arms. Little skinnier. Chris

I have the Ram 20K hitch (Curt). Great hitch, I like it a lot, but I am going to sell it for an Anderson Ultimate to get a little further from my cab.

Ram, PullRite and Reese make "Picture Frame" adapters AFAIK. The PullRite is modular and breaks down for easier storage. You didn't say if the truck is a long or short bed. If it is a long bed, then you don't require a slider (depending what type of pin box and trailer nose design some short beds can get away without one). Some manufacturers make different 'feet' for their hitches to accommodate the Ram or Ford puck system.
If you get a slider, the PullRite has a few styles, you would want the ISR that has tabs that pin into the picture frame. Other styles will need an adapter to fit on the adapter.

There are several hitches that will fit. To keep costs down you may want to get a Picture frame adapter to use with your Husky. Etrailer also lists other possibilities.
Congratulations on the new truck.
