We are looking for either a TT or 5th wheel camper with 26-28 feet of living area. We previously owned an AR-ONE 17RD TT and want more space. Just my wife and I camping but plan to camp 8-10 weeks per year.We are not finding a lot of 5th wheels in this size and some salesmen have told us that in this size they recommend a TT over a 5th wheel.Looking for input from experienced campers.Thanks, Jerry

Northwood has several lines of good quality trailers. No lippert frames, solid durable construction.

If you have at least a 3/4 ton truck, I think you will be much better satisfied with a 5th wheel. I've had several of both, and in my judgment, there is daylight and dark difference between them.

I agree that there is a significant difference between a 5th wheel and a TT. I much prefer a TT. It's a matter of personnel preference, needs, and the way you use it. It's also a matter of what tow vehicle you want to own. I don't like driving a pick-up. I don't like hitching or setting up a fiver. Again, just my preference others obviously prefer a 5th wheel.

Coachman Chaparral MKS29. I have on and love it.

I would say go to a RV show and look around. I hesitate to recommend anything not knowing your needs or what your tow vehicle is.

Well, some do, if you get a V-nose style TT.

Total length is something to consider. My TT is 35 1/2 feet long from bumper to hitch. With the truck I am a total of 57 1/2 feet from front bumper of truck to rear bumper of trailer. Yes, it takes just a "little" more thought when turning a corner.

OAL = Overall Length Nose to tip of tail. Not living space.

Mines a CY3418 but it's 38'6" OAL, that's the number I need when looking for a campsite.

Mines 27'10" OAL. That's 27'10" of living space. Unlike a TT that's 27'10" OAL you need to minus the tongue length since you don't live on the tongue.
And mine tows like it's not there. :)

I call it 26 feet as the rest sticks over the box, just as a 26 TT is really closer to 30 feet if you include the tongue.

Winnebago just released their new Voyage 25RKS fifth wheel. Length 27'3", Dry weight 6500, GVWR 8500. Winnebago doesn't have it on their website yet but easy to find photos from dealers online. Not many small 5'ers these days so this one may work for those wanting such.

In the past RV names were based on length for the most part. That doesn't seem to be the case anymore. The name is just that, a name.

My Winnebago 26FWRKS is 29'9" exterior.
