I don't have a Chevy but I have a Ram 2500 CTD with a 2176 CCC. My Pin is also 1800lbs loaded. I'm over my 9600lb GVW by 200lbs. Under my RAWR by 1100lbs, under tow rating by 3200lbs. Tows absolutely great. I don't see why you need a 3500. You have more GVW than I do.
