We like being able to "drop" the fifth wheel and go exploring with the truck. Or DH can take the truck to go fishing (or whatever) and I can stay back at the campsite content to do my own thing.
With the motorhome it was convenient for the pets when travelling with us but other than that, we prefer to fifth wheel.
We've travelled on snow-covered roads with the fifth wheel too. If doing this, have a good brake controller installed that works effectively with slippery roads.
Plus DH is always going to have a full-size pickup in his life, so economically it just makes sense to have a fifth wheel.
