Have a 2006 Keystone Sydney Outback 5th wheeler The air conditioner/heater it is a Carrier roof mount it has a remote to turn or cool or heat. We can not get anything but the fan to run. Breaker is OK. Does anyone have on of these and do you have any ideas what to look for. Have use the emergency button on the system and no response there also. Had a service guy come out and he had no idea what to do, that was a waste of money. Help in Iowa

I had the same problem and found out that the convertor was going bad, remember the starter in that unit is powered by 12 volt so have your convertor checked. the fan on it would run but the compressor would not start. does your 12 volt lights flicker every so often?? that was the beginning signs of my convertor going bad. Its worth a check.

I have an '06 Cougar with a Dometic A.C. with the remote. Works great . Remote turns A.C. and furnace on or off with temp you set. Don't use the remote and press the A.C. button on the ceiling and see if it works.

Is the remote indicating it is in the correct mode ie, cooling mode usually indicated by a snowflake symbol?

My carrier just went bye bye after only 4 years. Low profile heat pump. Replaced by Coleman 15000 without heat. Very happy but out $1600 with installation. Keep rig 22 degrees cooler than outside air.

Most RV A/Cs and Heat-Pumps are factory sealed and not intended to ever have the Freon re-charged.

When someone tells you to buy the same rig they own, listen, they might be right. When they tell you to buy a different rig then they own, really pay attention, they probably know something you don't.

Might be worth a try. Carrier is a large dealer of reefer units (semi truck refrigeration units) In the south, Texas area for sure a company W&B Refrigeration is a carrier dealer and works on buses and such too. May try to find a repair place that specializes in reefer units, possibly more inline with your unit specially if they do buses too.

Well, Carrier roof airs are much different than Carrier refrigeration units.
I would go with an RV dealer that does air-conditioner work.
The basic operation of an RV roof air is the same whether Carrier, Coleman, Duo Therm, Dometic.......

Might be a silly question.......but have you changed batteries in remote?

Is the LED light on ceiling unit control board ON and GREEN or is it flashing?

HERE is a manual for Carrier Models......might have something about your unit.
Is it time for your medication or mine?

I really don't know much about Carrier. I think they are out of business, or at least quit making RV coolers. Its a shame there are techs that know nothing. I've had some. I would do a search of your area and see if there is a tech that others recommend. When in Colorado we use a girl that worked on RVs, and came from Amarillo TX. She was a heather A/C repairmen in Texas, but easily converted to RVs.. She worked on our A.C while in Colorado so maybe you have a local house A/C person that can help you out. Good luck. I know I'M not much help, but that is how I would handle the problem.
