I still want to know what a wreck with a horse trailer using a gooseneck hitch has to do with an Anderson Hitch. Show a picture of a wreck or a report of one using an Anderson Hitch.
Cummins12V98 has been on an Anti Andersen rant for many months based only on his opinion, not fact. He tows a very heavy DRV with a 6000lb pin weight. For his situation the Companion is an excellent choice. I wouldn't tow his weight with my Andersen. But to continuously 'bad mouth' another product as fact when he in fact has never used one, or cannot show any failures of the product just does not make sense. BTW, normally, Cummins12v98 has very valuable and excellent contributions for the forums he visits. Normally based upon first hand experience, not just because he does not like the looks of one.
Thank you for the criticism and compliment. I have said they would be fine for a lighter weight RV. Of course that is MY opinion.
With a heavier RV their base WILL move fore and aft and deflect the bed no different then my 18K Companion did until B&W sent me shims so the base would transfer the weight to the bed cross members.
Mounting the Andersen to the picture frame adapter for the RAM factory puck system is a good way to stop the deflection.
Another thing "I" don't like is there is no way to lock your RV to the Andersen.
Again no issue if you are happy with your Andersen at all. I think everyone benefits when all sides of a topic are addressed.
