- Cummins12V98Explorer IIISounds like they must of had some problems with people towing heavy. Looks like it still sits on top of the bed corrugation and will allow for bed deflection unless you add spacers to fill the void between hitch base and top of bed cross member. B&W 18K Companion had that problem with towing heavy until they came out with spacers. My 18k Companion did cause bed deflection towing heavy until the spacers were added.
Does the "IMPROVED" Deaux allow for the ability to lock the RV to the hitch?
Sounds like the original "Ultimate" was not. Is it now? - N-TroubleExplorerWhat does locking the RV to the hitch accomplish?
- SkiSmuggsExplorerSounds like they have no problem listening to their customers or improving their product. This is the 2nd redesign of the ball mount model, first from steel to aluminum and now this one.
Hmmm, with the funnel on the adapter, I wonder if we can upgrade just that piece? - N-TroubleExplorerThe ball offset doesn't really look any different to me than the current model. Can't be much different if they did move it.

Good grief.
Looks like they made some nice upgrades to an already great hitch. Good to see an Idaho company do so well - more and more people are using these hitches, in all three flavors. Given the quality, performance and price point, I expect them to continue gaining market share. - jerem0621Explorer II

On the Facebook post there were a few users ask this very question and Andersen responded by asking for a PM to discuss...sounds like they are alluding to a possible upgrade to the coupler. I would give them a call and see what they say.
Thanks!
Jeremiah - ramgunnerExplorerIt would be great if they could make a replacement pin box with their system built-in, get it "type-accepted" by the manufacturers, and have it offered as a factory option. I once heard they were working on that.
- MFLNomad IIWith the old style goose neck adapters, not being the best for FW frames, I am surprised that this Andersen idea took so many years to surface. To me, it just makes sense to bring the ball up, instead of extending the goose neck down.
With Pullrite jumping in with their funnel idea, it seems these hitches will continue to evolve and improve. I can see the need, especially for tow vehicles with a 6.5 bed, or lacking in payload.
I still prefer to use a standard type FW hitch, and do have a favorite that I won't name, except that it is the same brand Cummins has. :)
Jerry - minnowExplorerWonder how long it will take for these to be available ? Just checked their web site and they still have the older model as being the only one available. Bet there is a lot of the old stock out there and who will want to buy yesterdays engineering when a better, beefier upgrade is available.

I agree and having a manufacture use their customers as their R and D is not going sit well. I believe its a good idea that was released to soon.
