X2 I don't worry about the hitch...:B

I have actually driven my 5er all day after having forgotten to lock the pin. NO bounce off or any other problem.

Well, ya never know. I'll bet somebody could get rich if they invented a BedSaver for an Andersen. I would buy one. Can't be too safe. :B

On edit: Wait...you're saying an Andersen wouldn't need a BedSaver because, unlike conventional fifth wheel hitches, it's highly unlikely that it would come off the hitch if you forgot to lock it? Well, in that case, never mind.

Thinking it could never jump of the ball is fool hearty! Stuff happens. Chris

About ten years or so ago, I pulled into a truck stop to get fuel in Ark. Later as I was pulling into a town a few miles further up the road I had to stop at a stop light. I noticed in my mirror that the trailer was pulling away from the truck and dropped on the bed before I could stop. Some stupid driver at the truck stop had pulled my pin. After that, I kept the pin locked and the hitch base locked to the bed. No more problems after that.

If they take the time to take off the adapter they could cut the lock. If they want my camper they can have it, that's why I have insurance.

...I guess to steal it someone would have to retract the six leveling legs...defeat the wheel locked chock...and the xchock...least it will be difficult. ..

My modification is to keep someone from hooking up to the trailer when I am not there. I am not concerned about it jumping off the ball.

Only someone with an Andersen hitch could pull it. Haven't seen anything that locks the coupler. Probably have to look at putting one of those clamp locks on one of the wheels as an alternative to locking the kingpin

Flatbed with a GN ball would do just fine and be gone in seconds.

Just leave it hooked up! No one would steal it!

You could always remove the Andersen block and attach a pin lock, it would only take a few minutes. Of course any lock is easy to defeat for those that have the tools to do so.

I think he is referring to the Walmart/restaurant problem of someone pulling the release! Trailer is not going to jump off the ball until one hits a REALLY REALLY REALLY bad bump. Chris

Unlike a conventional hitch that has had the handle pulled, its a dropped fifth wheel for sure.

Once the locking issue is solved, if there is really an issue, you guys are going to have to find another product to discredit.
