Any one towing with a F250 6.2 Gasser?

If so what brand of unit do you have? We are going to the RV show in Atlanta and will be looking at 5th wheels. We will be in the market for a new trailer some time this year.

We have a 2015 F250 6.2, we will not be towing anytime soon through high mountains, mostly just staying here on the east coast.

Looking for a unit that can handle some cold winter camping. No bunk house or outside kitchens. Looking for some ideas of what others are towing with a gas vehicle that like their units.

Most likely staying around 12,500 GVWR, hitch weight of around 2000 - 2200lbs.

Thanks

When out and looked and it is 3123 lbs.

I am currently towing a travel trailer, wife is wanting a 5th wheel. After posting here started looking at travel trailers with similar layouts of the 5th wheels. They are slighter lighter in weight of trailer and tongue weight. Maybe should encourage wife that she can get all she wants in a travel trailer to stay within safe limits of my truck.

I do appreciate all these comments they are really getting us thinking and ready to go looking.

I am interested in comments.
I will be in the market for a new 3/4 ton pickup for a new trailer.
I was considering the F250 Crew cab, 6.5' bed 6.2 gasser, but here in Reno, Nevada, there are very few on the lot. On the other hand, there are a ton of diesels. So from a shopping perspective, the 6.2 gasser is not very available. I suspect the resale on the diesel would be better as well.

Well Mike, I think you would be at your limits for your truck with that 5er. But for me it is a unique floor plan. Never seen anything quite like it. It does have an outside kitchen which you said you didn't want. Could you pull it? I think so, but it would definately give your truck a workout. But then thats what they are made for, to work. What is the payload for your truck per the yellow sticker on the drivers door jamb?

I would have to think long and hard on this one. Your money, your truck, your call. Good luck, John

I have 2013 F350 Dually with the 6.2 gas engine and a 4.30 rear end. Tow a 2017 Jayco Seismic Wave Toy Hauler 41' long - scaled out at 24,500, 8,000 being the truck and 16,500 being the trailer last Sept returning from Tulsa Ok to Louisiana. The new 6 speed transmission is much better than the old 5 speed also for towing. I have no problems pulling this trailer with this gas engine. Had a 2006 F250 6.0 Diesel prior pulling a 14,000 gooseneck horse trailer. I had too many problems with the diesel starting around 90k miles, so switched to the 6.2 gas and don't regret it at all. I pulled the horse trailer with the 6.2 gas also and couldn't tell much difference between it or the diesel. I'd be more concerned about the weight limits on the F250 as others have mentioned than the gas engine. You probably need to move up to at least a SRW F350, but the DRW is a lot more stable than the SRW. Good luck.

That is a nice FW, but IMHO, as a 6.2, 3.73 owner, you would be asking a lot of the gas truck. The specs I read showed a dry pin of near 2,200 on that 39' FW, with GVWR of 14K. Your truck may pull it/carry it, but don't think you will be happy with the performance.

Beautiful 5W, but just know you will be maxed out on pin, and towing capacity.

I'm seriously looking at a F250 6.2 also.

If you did not get the heavy duty trailer tow package option, I strongly suggest upgrading the radiator and adding an auxiliary transmission cooler.

Towing rig in sig, my 13 250 6.2 would have no problem carrying a pin of 2200+, but is rated to tow 12,300 FW.

Had one...put it in M and shift manually in the hills...you will like that better.

Towing 10000 pound (scaled) 30 ft mid profile 5th wheel. Tow from Alberta, Canada to Arizona every winter and all through Canadian rocky mountains in summer. 2011 F250 6.2 4.30 axle has no problem towing that.

My brother in law is using a โ€œ15โ€ F-250 with the 6.2 and likes it. He is dragging an 11,000# Travel Trailer...

It will all depend on the size of the fifth wheel, after all its not as much about what you can tow, itโ€™s about what you can carry when it comes to fifth wheels
