Anyone tow their 5'r with Cooper AT3's??

My truck needs new shoes.
I currently have Michelin A/T2's that have run their course.
I haven't been pleased with their handling in the snow (non-towing).
So I've narrowed my tire search down to the Cooper AT3's...but cannot find many reviews about these tires from folks who tow fifth-wheels with them.

Any experience out there?
DO they handle well towing a ~13-15,000 lbs fifth wheel?

Here are my options:
Michelin AT2's for about $950 installed
Cooper AT3's for about $725 installed

Yes, but I need to get together with Mor/ryde and upgrade the Rubber Sheer Spring in the Pin Box as it's too light for our unit and allowing for too much movement.

Excellent, I think this thread helped me seal my decision on the Coopers.
Thank you again!

I replaced Michelin LTX with a set of Cooper AT3’s on my last truck. I was extremely happy both empty and especially towing our 5th wheel. The Coopers were superior tires and I have had several sets of the Michelin’s. Only put about 12k miles on them before selling but tire wear was great and best of all no cracking like the Michelin’s.

I guess it could have been a bad batch of tires, but know there was nothing wrong with the alignment as I got good wear on the Goodyears before the Coopers and good wear after.
We originally had the TrailAir Tri-Glide King Pin and were getting some serious slamming both for and aft during stops and takeoff and there were reports of Tri-Glide failures so switching to a Mor/ryde was a no brainer.
By the way, I worked for 32 1/2 years in Rochester for Harris/RF Communications.

Michelle.S...and fellow WNY'er...did you ever find a problem with the actual tires? Or do you really think it was a tire-truck mis-match??

Also, do you like your mor-ryde pin box? I'm on the fence with that too!

I'll post this since you have a GM. I ended up with a set of Coopers on my '11 Silverado Dually because I needed tires and my Tire Dealer couldn't get my usual Goodyears in time for a trip. Saved me a few bucks and told me they were a good tire. Which they were until they got approx 10K miles on them, then when ever in a sweeping curve at highway speed I would get vibration in the front that could be felt in the steering wheel and you could feel the uneven wear on the outer edges of the front tires. Moved them to the back and everything was fine for another 10 or 15K miles then it started all over again, this happened running Solo or towing heavy. Finally pulled them off and put on the Goodyear Wranglers with the Kevlar belts and no more vibrations until they were due for replacement.
For what ever reason those Coopers didn't like my stock front suspension, so no more Coopers for me.

I'm on my fourth set in my life, if you count the predecessor to the AT3. My last set that I replaced last summer lasted a legit 80k. I never towed more than a 8,000 bumper pull with them. I got new AT3 tires just before I bought the fifth wheel I have now which is about 12,500 all in.

They are great in the snow and ice. They tow awesome. They have a higher tow rating than the stock ones, in load range E, which of course is nice. Their weakness is in the mud, they don't clear mud very well, but I'm almost never in mud. I definitely recommend them over the michelens.

I know you asked about the Coopers but I'm running Toyo AT2's which are virtually identical to the Coopers and I'm towing around 13.5K lbs and they seem to handle great.

I've always ran the Cooper AT3's in the past but this last time around I thought I'd try something different and have been pleased so far.

Do you think you like the Toyo's better then Coopers, as said I liked the Coopers, they were on my short .I too went with Toyo.

Another tire I was considering was the Mastercraft Courser AXT , I believe they are made by Cooper. Where I buy my tires ,they talked highly of them.

So far I'd say the wear has been about the same. At this point I honestly couldn't tell you there's much difference between the two. However, I never seem to put much more than around 20K miles on a set. Seems every time I buy tires I turn around and get rid of the vehicle. :S

I had Cooper Discoverers on my last truck....F250 and they were great tires. Good on dry pavement, good in snow and quiet all around. They look like they would be loud because of the aggressive tread design but I would buy them again. Pulled a 5er with them too. Never an issue. And made here in the US.

I have coopers on my old '09 GMC and they did the job well. Very sold handling when aired up. Now replaced the factory Goodyears with a set of AT3's on my '16 2500HD GMC. they have been great in the snow. They are rated to handle lots of weight so should be great with my current TT and eventual 5ver that I will have by the end of the season. In a nutshell they handle well, track straight, are relatively quiet for an AT tire and have awesome traction.

I'm on my second set LT275/75/18 on my 2013 Ram and tow a 13,500# fifth wheel. No complaints. The first set lasted 60,000 miles, were quiet, and great in the snow and rain towing or not. I recommend them!

I ran Cooper AT/3's 265/75/R16's on my older F250 and now run Cooper AT/3's on my newer for 275/65/R20's and have always pulled my 5ver's with weights of 12-14K. Never had a problem.
