Anyone use the Surco 501br ladder bike carrier ?

Saw this in another forum thought it interesting have a lite weight so this may be a good option .
  • Howdy!

We carried our bikes on a ladder carrier for a couple of years, on problems. Make sure your secure them well. That being said I did not care for it. They are a pain to get up on the ladder and secure, and once done I didn't want to hassel of getting them down. Also you lose the use of your ladder to access the roof of your RV. I opted for welding a 2" receiver to our 5er pin box and a good bike rack.

I don't think I would want to put 25 pounds on my ladder, then drive down the road, with that load trying to detach the ladder from the RV.

My ladder might not be bolted onto as strong as frame as yours. Mine has 6 screws into the metal framework in my RV sidewall and roof.

It is not really well attached to the RV.

Even a hitch mounted bike rack can flex the steel mount - and that is 1/4" thick steel.
