Good afternoon from chilly central FL.
I know I have asked this question before. I have entered the words in the search box, but no results.
Those of you that have added a AUXILiARY FUEL TANK.
Which one did you purchase?
Did you do the install yourself?
I am giving serious thought of putting one on the tuck this spring.
Your thoughts both pro and con.

Dave H M, thanks for the info. I am still here for little bit. I will check to see how far it is to their location.

If you really want a cheap solution you could weld a couple hose barbs onto the steel rim of your spare tire and plumb it into your fuel tank. It would hold a good 25 US gallons.

wood worker, if you are still there.

RDS tanks are made in Perry FL.

They will make them to your spec. And if you are close you could pick it up and save shipping.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Yes a type,AUXILIARY, I think I do real good for a guy who has lost 85% of his vision.
I have weighed the truck and rig, on a Cat Scale. Ok there.
I also like the idea of being able to fuel up maybe every 2 days. And maybe not have the rig on the truck. Plus we want to travel the US highways, get off the interstates highways, and explore.
I will research the different brands that were listed and see what I think will work for me.
Thanks again for the replies.

mine would have been bed height, but i put mine rubber mounts under for vibrations, and so the gunk can get out.

60 gallon RDS tank/tool box combo. Had it installed when I bought the truck. REALLY nice mod.

It isn't about saving $$. It isn't about "I need to stop anyway", it is about choosing when/where you stop.

Sorry, bought the truck with tank installed. Really nice to have especially where fuel stations are few & far between or passing through an area of extra high prices.

Nice thing about mine is that it is bed rail high but is half fuel half storage. About 35gal fuel.

91 gallon RDS tank with tool box that I installed. Absolutely love having all that diesel on board, good for about 1,000 miles towing my triple axle toy hauler and filling up when I want to and without the trailer.

i just have a cheap 36 gallon from tractor supply. i had to add in one bung so i could have a sight tube. but i just flip a man valve to gravity drain into the factory tank. but i did weld in a connection to the factory fuel inlet (yes it was off the truck for this). and yes a fuel filter in this assembly.
O and i did add in a grounding strap, needed?? i get a lot of static discharges. can hurt at times.

i went cheap and simple.

I have a generic 35 gallon steel from The Farm Store with an electric pump and hose/fuel nozzle. It gives me about 75 gallons total of fuel. Enough that I fuel up when I want rather than when the truck says I have to, wouldn't be without one.

Probably about $400 total spent. One of the best traveling accessories I've gotten.

40 gallon gravity feed. Came with fitting, wired in solenoid to control flow. LOVE IT. Fuel once a day

62 gal RDS wedge with gravity feed. Drill 4 holes in bed. Three for mounting, one for fuel line. Install a grommet on fuel line hole. Install fitting from install kit in fuel filler hose. All you need to this is a sharp utility knife if the hose is rubber. I did one for my friend in 30 minutes total. Have had mine in two trucks now. Never a problem. Works perfectly.

Bill, not trying to be the weight police, but do watch your payload and make sure the size tank you want will fit within your truck's specs. If you've not scaled your rig, ready to camp, I'd highly recommend doing so, so you know =exactly= how much payload you've got to play with. Heartlands aren't noted for being light. Just sayin'...
