After a minor accident backing into a car on my rear bumper I bought an inexpensive back up camera from Cabela's. It's a clear pic IF the line-of-sight from the transmitter to the receiver screen is unobstructed. I'm thinking of mounting the xmittter to the 5er's hitch so it can see directly through the rear of the truck. Problem is the wires from the back camera to the xmitter has to go 35' and the wire with the kit is only 10'. I guess I can splice the wire an extra 25' but the next problem is the power. Normally it gets power from the backup circuit on the truck. I'm guessing I could get power from the running lights in the 5er but it would always be on when the lights are on. What do you think?

lowfly, I tow a Seadoo behind the FW, I installed a wireless camera to keep an eye on it while towing, got it here: LinkageI did much as you suggest, mounted the camera on the ladder, the x-mitter under the nose. The camera co. sold a plug-connected extension wire to get from the camera to the x-mitter at the front of the trailer. Possibly might fit yours. I wired to the parking lights, my preference, but it could have been any 12 volt source. I tied into the wiring for the TV plug.Works great for me.

I remember years back when I bought my cheap rear view camera that there were warnings not to leave it on constantly and it would/could burn out. I would switch the circuit myself.bumpy

I just talked to the guys from 4ucam in the link below. I want two cameras.. one for rear of FW and one to show hitch. they have a product that displays on ipad/android tablet, wirelessly,but you would have to put a switch in to control which camera is being shown. anyone see any postings anywhere about putting a camera on the FW pointing towards the hitch?

I would love to see a 3 camera wireless system so that I can have a view of each side as well as the back of my 5th wheel when backing up. I know that there are some nice wired 3 camera systems but can only find 1 camera wireless systems.

I bought one of the Cabela's cameras as well, two things I did, wired the camera to a plug so I could build my own adapter cords for various different uses, and I got a couple of magnets so I could stick the camera's bracket to lots of different places. I have a large tool box in the bed of the truck and I can put the camera on the box to watch the hitch as I back up to my trailers then move the camera to the back of the trailers to monitor backing. Even use it to watch the load on my utility trailer.

I too am interested in a single camera unit to put on the back of my 5th wheel. Would prefer wireless. The license plate hookup will not work because of my bicycles. Anybody offer suggestions?? Jim

bkd234, if its any use to you, before I bought I talked to my electronics buddy, he said that in the lower cost wireless category, thay are all pretty much the same. Buy whatever. I did find 4ucam to be helpful before the sale. Haven't had to deal with them after :)

I am also looking for a wireless rear view camera to put on the rear of my new fifth wheel. I went to the 4ucam.com website mentioned in this post and they have one for less that half of a Voyager system at Camping World. Anyone else have experiences with this company and the quality of their products?

My monitor has four (I think) channels. If I recall, you can get x-mitters on different freqs, for signals from multiple cams. One at a time on a given monitor, of course.
