Bedspreads

Wasn't sure where to post this. We have a fifth so I thought this would be a good place. We have a new fifth and we have removed the bedspread and shams for a more practical quilt. The bedspread and shams easily snagged and had no place to put them in rv when sleeping. Anyway my question, has anyone else put something different on the bed and what did you do with the ones that came with rv.?
I wanna go where I haven't been, but still wanna see what I've seen again!

When we purchased our gently used fifthwheel it came with the matching spread shams and throw pillow, which from their condition seems they were never used. We redid the whole BR, headboard, window treatments and donated the whole lot.

We did put original stuff in garbage bag in S&B for when we sell the trailer, not for s LONG time though.

I am the quilter in our family, but otherwise this is a post I could have written. We also saved the original table top and the back bench from the U shaped dinette when we switched to a larger table with booth seating, so if and when we sell the trailer to someone who wants that arrangement, it is still available.

shams and decor pillows do not serve a good purpose, it is a lot of trouble to store them some where during the night.

We've always used sheets blankets and a spread we like. Two trailers back we donated the factory spread and shams then were asked to provide them when we traded it. Our current trailer and one prior, we folded them and stuck them on the top shelf in the closet, then put the set on when we traded it. Lots better spreads easily purchased and are better.

I bagged up the original in a large garbage bag, taped it shut and stored in the top back corner of our guest bedroom closet. It won't see the light of day again until we trade in our coach!

In a "space bag" under the bed in case it gets really cold and we didn't run South soon enough.

Some folks will keep the original in storage for when they sell the RV - they keep the stuff they used and liked, and give the new owners the original stuff.

Yep - mine is in the bag that the comforter came out of, along with the pillows, shams and whatever I didn't like and it's under the bed. That stuff is just ugly!

We took off the original bedspread put in a space saver bag and stored in our house. My DH and I use seperate top sheets and blankets, so just picked up some nice ones to use on the bed.

We use the RV Superbag, which is a bedspread-like sleeping bag of sorts with removable sheets attached by Velcro. Works well, if a bit pricey.

Haven't used a sleeping bag in any of RV's since the 69 Caveman 8' camper after the firs trip it was sheets blanket and a down comforter!
Now days heated mattress pad sheets blanket and comforter!

We use fleece throws as blanket. Took the original items, stopped at a homeless campsite in Seattle, donated to whomever wanted them.
In the past during Christmas holidays I bought a bunch of sleeping bags and stopped at homeless sites. Always seem to appreciate our efforts, and our kids and grandkids learned to help those less fortunate.

Yes, we removed our designer one also. It was a super thick, probably 3" comforter style and probably rayon. I knew it would not only snag, but slide easily off and could get dirty and sending it to the dry cleaners was probably not a favorite of mine to do. I have it inside in one of those vacuum bags. The original shams are still on the fiver bed but inside the new shams. We bought beautiful cotton quilted ones that match the coverlet. In the summer, it looks great and is light enough to easily fold down and washes nicely, and the matching pillows match the coverlet set. For the fall and winter, we use a nice fleece blanket and when it gets really cold, we throw a zipped open sleeping bag on top.

Don't get rid of the original...just put it away. If you decide to trade it in, you may get asked if you have the original....Just call General RV and you can verify that. For some reason, it makes a difference in resale or at least trade in
