Bedspreads

Wasn't sure where to post this. We have a fifth so I thought this would be a good place. We have a new fifth and we have removed the bedspread and shams for a more practical quilt. The bedspread and shams easily snagged and had no place to put them in rv when sleeping. Anyway my question, has anyone else put something different on the bed and what did you do with the ones that came with rv.?
I wanna go where I haven't been, but still wanna see what I've seen again!

Great pics & quilting is quite a talent. As far as matching curtains from the previous poster;when I bought our new bedspreads I also bought a matching cloth shower curtain so I could make everything match and believe you me, I'm not a sewer but I do know how to use that Iron on tape fer sure. If anyone is looking that close at the back of my homemade curtains, they shouldn't be in there. :B Hugs, Di

We store ours under the bed. The DW is a quilter and she made a quilt with matching curtains. Here is a couple of pics.

Maybe they want it because it matches the beautiful curtains:)

We never use ours. Its in a bag stored someplace. Maybe it makes the trailer look like it was not used that much..."oh honey , it looks like no one hardly used the trailer".

Over 19 years in our 5th wheel and we have replaced our bedspread, etc twice since the original, which was junk. Being fulltime, I like to change things up once in awhile to keep up with current styles. I myself cannot imagine anyone wanting the original bedspread. What would be the purpose? Even if you sold your unit lets say in 2 years, who would want a 2 year old used bedspread?
We fold ours down at the foot of our bed because we usually pull it up by early morning. If it's hot and we won't be using it at night, I fold it and put it on my wood counter top space just in front of the window. Hugs, Di

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions. I guess I will store mine for awhile in the attic. I have a light weight quilt I ordered from Kohl's that works just fine. Thanks

I don't see much purpose in spending money for some particular bedspread. It's just a dust cover and matches the décor.

I never understood the idea of putting something on the bed every morning only to remove it every night. Bedspread, comforter, whatever - if it's on the bed during the day, it's on the bed at night. If it's not useful for sleeping, then why put it on the bed at all? 🙂

Same here. DW has other ideas on the subject. Can anyone guess what happens to the bedspread every AM and every PM (HINT...It goes into the shower at bedtime)

They are so thin and slippery, they just seem like show packaging to me. I removed them and stored in a vacuum sealed bag left at home. If we need to "show" and sell, I'll put them back on. We use our own favorite linens, pillows and blankets.

I guess we're the only ones that still use the original spread. It works to cover the bedding when the rig is at home, and folds down to the foot of the bed when we're camping. Usually ends up on the floor sometime during the night, and the dog then makes use of it. Come to think of it, he may be pulling it off himself. I wouldn't know, I sleep right through most anything.

I think the original pillows and cases are stuck in the under bed storage space. Worthless. Saving for resale.

We did the same thing in our TT and now in our 5th Wheel. We bought a nice comforter that was more practical (cotton/polyester) along with shams and used it in our TT and now in our 5th. Stored the bed covering that came with the TT underneath the bed and put it back on the bed when we traded in the TT. Will do the same thing with our 5th wheel some day.

When we ordered our HitchHiker, we eliminated the bedroom stuff and had neutral window treatments put in the bathroom and bedroom. They even gave us a credit. We also eliminated the mattress and recliners providing our owns with much better quality products. The only thing they wanted with our trade in was a mattress which we provided. I would put bedding of your choosing and either get rid of the original or keep it fir a future sale. You can also change out the window treatments to match your new bedding. It is not that hard but be prepared for a ton of staple removal.

Camper bedspreads are made so thin and cheap, but do make it easy to make the bed. I struck out trying to match up browns by buying new shams. It was ugly on ugly. Bedspread is going into storage until we trade in the camper. Back to the drawing board next season. I'll look for a quality bed in a bag and most definitely the good high thread count sheets. Guests get the same, even though they're stuck sleeping on the dinette.

we've always used Health sheets and a nice comforter, this time around I won out when I found a nice woodland Camo set from cabelas in the clearance section for 20$. It's nice and warm. Kits have sheets and comforters too with Disney type **** on it I believe.

They are safely stored in a box in our basement (stick house). They came off as soon as we brought the unit home. As with our previous unit, if/when we trade we will put them back on.
