Blowout Albuquerque

I can't imagine how you could lose control of a trailer if a tire blows. There is no steering, no drive power involved it's just following your tow vehicle..You just pull over and stop. I've seen lots of trailers running along with a flat or blown tire. Driver wasn't even aware..

My friend lost a Trailer Commercial TA on I-10 last spring and he said it almost took him from the outside lane to the median on the other side of the fast lane! Chris

Biggest problem that USUALLY happens when a tire blows is that the driver doesn't even notice it and continues driving until someone flags him down. Glad it worked out in a normal fashion for him. What BRAND were those ST tires you saw on the trailer?

Yea skip I bet his eyes are still rolling from trying to keep up with the RPM of that ST tire. Only a few can do that!!

The Op saw it was an ST tire so he should have seen the brand also.

Had one blow last summer (OK I don't run 70 when its 100 anymore:) ), just heard a soft plop, thought it was a vehicle passing the other way. Didn't feel a thing. If I'd had the radio on or something like that, I don't think I'd even heard it. Probably just kept running till the other one blew. As it was, I decided to pull over and have a look. Luckily no real damage, put on the spare, off down the road.

It and its mate were 4 yrs old. Time for them to go.

K Charles he assumed it to be S T tire from the parts on his rental car. Guess we could all do that and be 50% either way. :(

Well if it was a trailer tire there is a 9 out of 10 chance that he was right without even looking at the piece on the hood of the rental car. Looking at the tread pattern the the piece would raise the to 99 out of 100.

I can understand your concerns when you're running light truck tires on your Redwood. I believe all Redwoods, approximately all 5,000 or so that that have been built to date, are running light truck tires due to their weight. Apparently, no manufacturer makes an ST tire that can handle the weight of a heavy Redwood.

I believe that there are maybe millions of travel trailers, 5ers, equipment trailers, and the like out on our roadways on a daily basis. I know our safety is at risk. Its all in the numbers.

Maybe, someday..........there will be millions of Redwoods sold and the light truck tires will be normal. Right now light truck tires on fifth wheel trailers are uncommon.

Keep pluggin' you may be able to change all that:)
