Brake Overload When Raining

My brakes work fine until it rains. Then I start getting "Overload No Brakes" messages on my P3 controller. Sometimes it's on continuously when braking, other times it alternates with a normal indication. Any ideas?

I understand it's a wiring issue but I sure can't find it and I've had the brakes checked by two shops also. I can't figure out how it would short only when wet and not at least intermittently when dry. I know I can't see inside the axle tube but water would have a hard time getting in there. I have both and in bed and bumper connector and both of them act the same way.

Sorry but it does not cause the problem the OP has encountered.

It is not really a water problem, it is a wiring issue.

I had a similar problem, exacerbated by moisture, which turned out to be, as ScottG SWAGged, insulation wearing through on the crossover brake wiring within the axle tube. Fixed by tie wrapping heavier gauge wire externally on the backside of the axle tube.

Water does that on drum brakes.

Water in the 7 pin connector or moisture somewhere in the trailer brakes or even inside the axle tube where the brake wires cross over and are just wearing through.
