I’m comparing the GD Solitude to the Montana (not the Montana “High Country”. Would you call them comparable? If not, which is higher quality? I’m told the High Country is a tier down from the straight Montana - true?
My dealer referred to two different types of Montanas. He called one The High Country, and the other he called Montana-Montana. I think he called it that because it was suppose to be a step higher than the High Country.
We looked at some of the Montana-Montana's (I'm assuming these were the top of the line), and I couldn't detect any real noticeable difference between them. Maybe the Montana-Montana had more wood trim, but that was about all I could tell different. Same appliances, etc. I didn't inquire about the actual frame. We absolutely did not like any of the floor plans though. Kitchen access was always blocked in every one of them. And we looked at a lot!
I think the Grand Design might be a higher end 5er, but it was also about $15,000 higher than the Montana also. And the GD weighs in 2000 pounds heavier than the Montana, dry weight listed. So that means it's got something "more" in it than the Montana. I'm just not sure what. All I know is, the floor plans for the GD did not work for us, they didn't scream "BUY ME! BUY ME!" You know what I mean. :B
