buying first 5th wheel today/insurance?

my wife and I are buying our first 5th wheel camper today. its a 2013 Coachmen Chaparrel. Its new, and we are very excited. untill today, we have always tent camped, but our upcoming summer trip to Yellowstone in June, gave us the notion to upgrade! We have always met nice people while camping and look forward to meeting many more, now that we will travel. We have raised our kids (8 & 10) camping since they were born, so they are getting spoiled at an early age, lol. Can anyone recommend a camper (RV) specific insurance company? or is it normally just as cheap to go with our other insurance provider who has our vehicles, house, etc? thanks for any feedback and we look forward to meeting some of you out there on the road!

    I just spoke with State Farm again, and they said that if the camper is destroyed, the replacement cost is based on our camper's MSRP (as new). So we are probably going to be switching our auto and camper insurance to State Farm. We will be saving $600 per year on our auto (2 vehicles).

    Take your time and ask a lot of questions. Here are a few important ones.
    1. Contents. Computer, cameras, phone, clothes and so on. Are they covered if stolen, loss by fire, or accident?
    2. Liability. Are you covered is someone gets hurt in your camper?
    3. What does the insurance company pay if damaged or totaled by storm, fire or accident.
    4. Look for a company that has good reviews. BBB is a good start. Am Best rating is also good to know. I hope this helps and good luck!

    I was going to switch to our auto insurance company (Liberty Mutual ... and I also checked with State Farm), but found that if the camper is totally destroyed, they will only give us the current blue book value. With Progressive, as long as the camper is 5 years old or newer, they will give us the replacement cost of a brand new camper. Progressive also offers roadside assistance and Liberty Mutual did not.

    What counts is when you have a claim, do they come through. We are lucky/unlucky that we had a major claim when our 5th was broke into winter of 2012/13. Over $4k in damage. No problem for our provider, who got an estimate, paid us, we took it to the factory for repairs.

    Nationwide for house, vehicles, and RV. Many discounts for grouping insurance.

    X2 on Gilbert. They are multi-line brokers and will ask enough questions to find the company and policy that is best for the way you use your RV. Good people!

    Gilbert RV insurance here. Way cheaper than State Farm and better coverage.

    State Farm here as well on all our trailers.

    Added advantage was we already had an "Umbrella" policy with them, so it was very economical to simply add the trailer to our existing Home, Autos, and liability insurance without duplication in coverage.

    State Farm here as well, through my HO. Only claim I've had was when my awning began to shear away on the way home last year, they replaced the entire awning and arms, glad I had it.
