- TodduptonExplorerMaybe and maybe not depends on a lot of factors. I would not count on it.
- azdryheatExplorerI'd look at 5er's with bigger tanks.
- VeebyesExplorer IIAn expensive proposition, starting with the available space for a larger tank.
For us a large tank was a requirement. If it did not have a minimum 80gal tank it got crossed off the possible model to buy list. We have 100gal. - agesilausExplorer IIIYou'd need to check for room plus you have to plan on supporting the weight. A 100 gal tank weighs around 750 pounds and you need hefty support members to hold it in place.
- Mandalay_ParrExplorerMy 3 tanks are nested together and not easily modified.

WAY, way more grief to swap (*IF* possible) than worthwhile..:(
Until you have the RV - you will never know if there's room, and/or a tank with the dimensions that will fit the room available!..:h
Then - there's whatever plumbing mods necessary to make it work.
ALL mfgrs "utilize" the space available.
When there's space "elsewhere" - guaranteed it won't be where you want/need it.
Of course, when/if you do that, you become your own warranty station.
If someone says it's "doable" - ask how much to "do it"..:@
Be ready for an *expensive* estimate for the project.
(Even then - better get it in writing, parts & labor)
As heat indicated.....either go with "original equipment" - or find
a brand that meets your requirements.....or compromise..:W
~ - rjsurferExplorerLarge tanks are one reason I'm keeping my 08 25' Cougar. Two 38 gallon grey, 38 black and 80 gallon fresh water.
It seems that smaller tanks are the way manufacturers are getting their rigs lighter to cash in on the ultra light craze.
Ron - janegowestExplorerThanks everyone! Gee...what are recommended optimum tank sizes? We never even thought of this until yesterday!!
- VeebyesExplorer IIBeing totaly self-contained, no using cg facilities, figure on 12 gal per person per day without being too very frugal with usage.
For dry camping water capacity & battery bank capacities are King.
A big tank does not weigh anything worth talking about till you fill it when you need it. - laknoxNomad

Going to look at a 5 er but the tank sizes are small considering...can they be swapped out for larger?
Will all depend on how much room there is below decks. One of the issues I have with one of the top 2 on my short list and I'm trying to see if I can get a schematic to see if there =is= any room to have a larger tank installed. Yes, I understand that I will lose CCC, but only =if= I have a full tank. Also, it would have to be done =after= the warranty expires. Frankly, it doesn't take a lot of space to increase your tank capacity. Just a few inches increase in dimension can give you an easy 10 gallons.
