2011 Flaggstaff 8528 RKWS 30' 5er.Full time RVer here and I need to leave my RV for the 1st time for 3 weeks to head to TN to pick my DW up and bring her home...What would you guys do? Drain everything, disconnect all power, close the slides, and hope for the best, lol?Thought about leaving a small electric heater inside the closed up RV when the weather warrants?Leave the propane on as low as possible in the closed up RV seems unadvisiable,,,Our Daughter could come by and turn the heat on if it gets below freezing...How would you handle this issue, knowing you were coming back to your home in three weeks?Not a critical issue, just one I had a query about! Thanks for any suggestions and have a nice Thanksgiving Holiday!

How cold do you expect it to get? If 30 degrees is the low and it warms up to 45 or more I wouldn't do anything. If colder it doesn't take but about 10 minutes and 2 or 3 bottles of antifreeze to winterize.

All I do is shut the water off. If it going to be freezing I leave the furnaces on and turn them down to about 50-55.I leave the elect on to keep the batteries charged.

I would have the DW fly and just pick her up at the airport.

I assume that flying is not an option. And I'm not sure why it will take three weeks? Maybe three days depending on where in TX you are parked.Close the slides, put everything away you can think of outside, Be sure the propane tanks are full, and turned on, leave the refer on unless it is empty, turn off the water, drain the holding tanks, Place an electric heater inside on low,lock the door and go.

3 weeks I'd winterize but again I'm not in Texas. A trusted daughter would be a nice asset. Just me but I don't leave those plug in heaters on their own, they're great while I'm in there though.
Hope the DW is doin Okay.

That seems like the best option to me. That or she can catch a bus if she refuses to fly.

Seriously, if you are expecting a hard freeze I'd put a small electric heater in & set it to the low 60s. Don't think the propane would last for the time & not fussy about leaving something on that involves fire unattended anyway.

Hmmmmmmmmm, I think it would be advantageous to list where you are and what you expect for temps.

As Dutchman Sport said. Drain low points, all tanks and water heater, winterize, disconnect, turn off and go. It all takes about a half hour. And costs less than $20.

Shut everything down, turn everything off, pull everything in, winterize the water lines and go. Heaven forbid, but what if something happened and you CANNOT make it back in 3 week? Propane will run out, electricity may go out for an extended time, lines "could" freeze, battery "could" over charge and boil out. Have your daughter check it a couple times, and if you get delayed longer than 3 weeks, give her instructions what she needs to do. If you do get delayed, (or worse), your daughter won't have to figure out what do do. It will already be done.

Just my suggestion. You'll have peace of mind also.
