Cranky landing gear

On battery, both move SLOWLY and sound like they are ancient, but they do move. The right one however, stops when it gets tall and we have to hand crank to help it up. This is under a load and pushing up. We have a feeling that the leg must be bent but doesn't look it. We had the gear replaced but it didn't help. Repair guy said the motor seemed to be fine...
But if the motors are fine, why do they seem to barely move to raise the trailer and sound so tired? Do the motors simply slow down in old age or do they just stop?
  • Have you checked your batteries? Sounds like the motors aren't getting enough power. You could also check out the voltage at the motor when they are operated.
  • Check and make sure all connections are clean and solid.

It sounds like a voltage/power problem.
  • It sounds like it only does this on battery power. If so, it is weak batteries. Make sure your converter is charging them completely. if it is it is time for new batteries.
  • The motor on our rear stabilizers conked out last year. We found out that we could hand-crank them down faster than the motor did, so we're in no hurry to get them fixed, especially since they're out of warranty.
  • It's not the batteries... We've got 6 - 6volts and they are fully charged... Hmm... didn't think about the connections..
