Dark front end cap owners

That's the same way we ordered our Montana. Put some disc brakes on it and you are set. We love it!

Our 2015 Chaparral,dark brown front,faded in 11 months.It was painted and new decals installed in November last year. Traded it off last month. Hope it lasts for the next owner.

All the care, wax, attention, washing, scrubbing, ... everything ... did not stop this from happening.

Our dealer worked out a deal with Keystone and they paid for a repaint. A 3rd party company repainted with an automotive paint. According to the dealer, the manufacturer's original paint was not much more than a "primer" coat.

We paid to have the decals replaced. We'd had the trailer for 2 years when it got the repaint.

After we realized we had a problem with the paint, we started paying very close attention to other TT and 5er's in various campgrounds we been to since. And it's amazing how many units have some horrible fading of the front cap.





And here's what it looked like the day we brought it from from the repaint!

Many companies (not all) are covering a paint / clear for front cap. After that no fading problems. Ours was painted and looks better than new. No amount of wax or care prevents this on the gel coat that has the poor uv protection. Paint is the only answer.

We had problems with our dark from cap within the first year the manufacturer covered it being repainted but we also went with a tan color instead of dark brown

Reason I asked was we looked at a Landmark when we were shopping along with a Montana. Landmark seemed much nicer, but the Montana was a nice 5er. We have a few friends who have newer Montanas and are not real happy with theirs. Many issues that seem to pop up. We had a Keystone product in a travel trailer and it wasn't the best built unit either. All manufacturers turn out some dogs for sure.

We had a couple that had Montana's last winter and came back with a new f-350 dually and a large landmark, both brand new but when the fifth was washed a hole in the roof was found so off for a fix. Sadly we did not see them this winter. Nothing is perfect.

We have a 2013 Montana Mountaineer, front has the "dark" mountains on it. We have traveled south for the winter and seen lots of sun. No fading that I can see.

Dark colors absorb more UV radiation so they're more susceptible to fading. It's the same reason the dark accents you see on some houses fade quicker than the lighter paint that typically covers most of a house.
