Does HEARTLANDS trailers have a high quality build?

I've been told they build lots of high quality 5th wheels & used a lot of this quality of building in the Pioneer travel trailers & so the Pioneer RL 250 that I'm buying shares the build quality?

Only one data point, but a buddy of mine had major issues with his 2012 Heartland Landmark. He battled with Heartland for a year to resolve a number of problems, including returning it to the factory for attempted repairs, the main one being a serious a slide leak. He finally got an attorney involved and filed suit under the lemon law. Heartland agreed to exchange his trailer for a new 2013 model.

He picked it up and towed it to another dealership where he traded it in on a new (not Heartland) 5th wheel. Yes, he took a bath financially.

I guess we are the exception to the rule. our Heartland Oakmont has been relatively trouble free. We've only really had one issue: the slide in the kitchen caught the linoleum was it was retracting and tore a big gouge in it right at the end of last season. I think A rock got caught in the roller or something. Not a difficult fix.

Other than that we are not terribly ginger with anything in the trailer. things are built of light materials to keep the weight down, but the recliners and couches are super comfy. even the beds aren't bad. We haven't had plumbing problems or water storage problems or AC issues or anything else. just set it up, use it then clean it, put it away. Basic maintenance goes a long way regardless of the brand of RV you buy.

Bought a Big Country last year and very happy w/ it. Came out of a Cedar Creek Silverback.

This topic is no different than that of the Ford 6. Uh-Oh. Vast majority of folks didn't have problems with them and quiet. Those that did, we all heard the loudest.

Another way of looking at it is to just be happy you didn't buy a new high quality unit..... I'm guessing you wouldn't be happy paying for a $200,000 trailer.

We have a neighbor with a new big horn with big time grey water tank issues, He called the company twice. Waste of time he said. Waiting to get home to the seller dealer. Nothing is perfect.

Had a 2013 Landmark that I ordered and bought brand new. Full body paint and was beautiful but it was a POS. Traded it for a 2015 Montana and now a 2018 1/2 Montana. We like the quality of the Montana much better. With the Landmark something minor broke every time we took it out of the driveway.

I have 2012 Heartland Landmark and consider it average in build, quality and engineering. In fact it is nothing more than a Big Horn with options.

We are fulltimers and ordered our 2014 Cyclone 4000 in November 15 2013 from Camping World with all the bells and whistles. Was advised that it would be delivered in six to eight weeks. The RV wasn’t delivered to CW until March 15 2014. On arrival it have the wrong furniture, two different couches with completely different fabrics that didn’t match. Who does that, no quality control what so ever. That took another month to get everything right.
Once we took delivery we got locked out the first night. That took another month to get a replacement lock.
Then we started seeing hairline cracks in the tub/showed with in a few months. Turns out there is no flooring under the tub/shower which needs support. Four trips to CW for repairs and they finally stated to us “We don’t think we can fix it to you satisfaction, you need to contact Heartland”.
I had been in contact with Heartland for months regarding this problem. We wanted the tub/shower replaced. They informed us it wasn’t possible as the tub/shower had been put in and the walls built around it. Long story show we ended up towing our 5er from Texas to Elkhart, IN at our cost for the needed repairs.
That’s just some of the issues we had with Heartland and the reason we will not buy another RV from them.
I feel that the quality in the build of Heartland produce are lacking and the quality control coming out of there factory in horrible.
If I had it to do over today I would be looking a DRV Fullhouse are a custom built by New Horizon.

We had a 2010 Bighorn and the fit, finish, and Heartland backup was terrific. We were very happy with this unit. Now we have a 2017 Bighorn and it has been nothing but trouble. Several things have gone wrong. Except for the power cord auto reel needing replaced which is a component. everything else has been from production. Full of saw dust, scratches throughout, walls came loose in 4 different places, 3rd use the dinning room slice gouged the floor, gas line to frig was installed wrong, (took fix from owner's web site to dealer to show them what needed to be done) shower had stress cracks that did not show up in PDI. We are now at our 3rd shop Heartland sent us to to get cracks fixed. We have $285 spent out of pocket for warrantee fixes that Heartland will not pay for. If we had our 2010 I would say buy Heartland. Now we would never buy a Heartland product again. PS The worst thing is 2 of the bolts holding the hitch were FINGER tight, one backed off about 1/4 inch.

I would purchase another Heartland product but only one that was older. Our 2011 was built in early 2010. Thor purchased Heartland late 2010. With today's RV quality issues, I would look long and hard at purchasing an older well built unit before a new one.
