On final .. heres the deal..
Wife and I plan to travel a bit.. on a budget.. for 3 years, min.. maybe longer.. We plan to supplement income as "pickers" and ebaying.. which is what we do now .. on a big scale ( 12500 sqft warehouse )

I tried to find the time , and attention to sort through the maze of all the quality fifth wheels out there.I really didn't spend enough time. Long story short. Planning to order a loaded 43' DRV lexington in am from rvsforless Are we making the right move?
We had liked the redwoods, but they did not offer a good bunk house.. which will become our "mini warehouse".

From our quick looking.. Drv's are expensive , and heavy. But do offer all the features we want.. Appliances, Woodwork, tall slides, moryd suspension, spare room, looks, and size.. we are changing a few things .and they do that for cheap.

Pulling with my 2013 dodge ram long horn dually diesel w/ aisen tranny and 4.10's with the dodge fifth wheel hitch.Dodge says I am good to 27k lbs.. Adding a air bag system, and a autocrane in the bed.

Anyone have any comments ? see any issues or problem?

Thanks
Steve

I do not own a DRV but feel like they are top of the line. I own a Landmark and would put it in the same category as the Redwood which is a step down. Both are nice but not the DRV and of course not the weight or price either.

I used to think a New horizon would be the ultimate til I talked to a NH owner who camped with us at the Lake Havasu on the WPA weekend. That guy was NOT a happy camper! They have their quality problems too. I looked over the "MS" prototypes (they didn't have a name yet) real closely at Sunnybrook Centreville rally in 2001 before Elvie decided he didn't want in. I still like the thick wall idea. Good choice, I'd say, even if things have changed a lot since those first two prototypes! Craig

Not sure if I updated..

Ordered a MS lexington .. loaded. . from Rv'sforless in TN.. Seem like good people. Good services, and a great discount.

Should be ready in August...

we plan to pick up the rv, and stay the winter in FL...to start the adventure.

Check out this website.

They have several of the top end 5th wheels.
DRV, EXCEL, HITCHHICKER
go to www.nuwa.com. click on inventory.

you will also notice that they sell referbished used rigs.

This is a great place to buy. Service after the sell is great.

NuWa is out of business. Kansas RV Center is the old NuWa shop operating as a sales outlet for DRV, Lifestyle and a couple of lower line units. The Hitch Hiker line is being built by Petersen Ind (Excel) to Nuwa specs and Kansas RV center has several.

buying the airbags tonight with the wireless control..

I figure it can't hurt? and will soften the ride a bit.. It did on my 08 f250 I traded in..
I have a 4 post lift, air tools in my warehouse.. fairly easy install now.. Nightmare on the road.. I would have to pay for someone to install, in fact..

Sounds like a good combo. No airbags unless you find you need them. Lived in our MS full time since 11/11 and will buy ANOTHER ONE.

Another DRV fan here! Had our Atlanta for over 2 years and would buy again! Nothing we have had in the past compares to this and the residential feel is amazing!

To answer the question, the rear bedroom is not accessible with the slides closed. In fact, the whole trailer is not accessible on the road unless you open the slides. Has not been a problem for us but we knew that going in. Ours has been well built and we are a definite fan for them. It is obvious it was well thought out with lots of nice little touches. I tow with a Ford 450.

So I called the local DRv guys .. lazyday or something like that..They offered like 10% off list.. and then tried to sell me on they don't offer big discounts.. we give the "crown club" .. i said keep it. round and round we went.. no go..
I can't believe these guys sell many new rv's... Then again , maybe older people fall for this sales move? Seemed they discount the stuff that has been sitting around.. pretty good though..lol

Lazy Days has huge overhead that has to be covered by someone. The customer. They sell a good number of rvs and I cringe at the thought of what people are being asked to pay. It certainly pays to shop around and not fall for their tactics. The Crown Club? Gimme a break.

On this side of the Mississippi, nobody deals like RVs For Less. I learned about RVs For Less from Dave Fought, the President of DRV. I asked him to recommend the best dealership for our DRV purchase.

ey will let you stay on their property for as long as necessary for you to check out and feel comfortable with your coach. Then they pay for 2 nights at a campground in Sevierville/Gatlingburg. They give you a 1 year Thousand Trails membership and pay for a 1 year Thmembership to the Suite Owners International Travel Club.

RVs For Less doesn't have a pool or library like Lazy Days, but I don't ever plan on having a dealership service my DRV so I'm not too worried about missing out on those exclusive luxury club benefits. People who like to have their egos stroked can pay for those.

Feel free to PM me if you want some specific pricing info.

We contacted a bunch of dealers for pricing. When it was all said and done we are paying Lazy Days about $3,500 more than the best price from another state.

I'm fine with that.

When we bought our Newmar we got 28% off the MSRP. Best other deal was 28.5% off which we gladly paid our local dealer the tiny premium to use them. Saved me having to go for factory deliver or traveling to pick it up or paying to have it delivered which would of eaten up much of my savings if I had done that.

I found the discount off msrp differs, depending on the options that are added.. Some option we added, didn't have a msrp.
It brings down the discount percentage.. You can get 33% off base price.. and end up at 27% overall.. as a example.

I think the mfg's are all different too.. not sure where nemars pricing strategy is.. But I do know Drv's.

Just curious..
Why did you choose the Atlanta vs the Lexington?

I can do more with the second bedroom door on the end than in the middle. I think that seat near the TV is about useless for regular viewing, OK for social talking. Where the couch can still be changed to two chairs and both people sitting there can still see the Tv if you are watching a movie.

Those chairs are also kind of cheap. Which we could replace but I was pretty meh about the whole thing. I just just do more with the sofa are in the Atlanta IMO. YMMV

I was wondering.. I was was back and forth on it. Cabinets above the chairs look a little different too..
We swapped out the sofa with the bed for theater seating.. no charge.
Left the 2 chairs.. It's just the wife and I.. And I have to be straight on for the tv.. no angle viewing.
I was wondering .. does the slide in the back room block the doorway when closed, in the Atlanta?
( it's still not too late to change mine ) lol

Ours was in that ball park too. Gotta tell ya though...no regrets. Be prepared to have people ask if they can take a tour.

Did they tell you about 3 months to build?

Yes. We plan on driving out from Vegas and pick it up in August.. Then head to florida for a trip around the state for the winter..

We need to close our ebay business here.. have a big auction for the business and our house. I have alot of stuff..lol
