European 5th Wheelers of the 1950's

These were built in France for people involved in the Circus
On a Ford chassis

On a Citroen chassis

On a Citroen as well
  • I have watched videos of carnivals and circus groups from Europe and even still they have different style rv's and trucks then we see here in the states. I do see some US rv's as well in the videos, I wish they would show some inside shots of the units as well.

I also remember seeing a video of a 3 story 5th wheel that did make it to the states a couple of years ago but I believe it was more for show, never saw anymore about it.

Thanks for the pictures, those are neat looking rigs. Given the low power of European vehicles in that period they must have been a challenge to drive.

Not really, the trucks would have relevant power to their US equivalents att the time
At the time they were slugs power wise even in the US. I do like the crew cabs and the art deco design.
