Extended warranty

I was wondering if any of you folks have had good luck with extended warranties? I bought a 2016 Jayco that has a two year and it has been in the shop for a multitude of things. "The best built RV on the road" has been a headache so far. I have 8 months to decide if I want to get a different brand or a warranty. Thanks in advance!

I just got the written response from the plan as to why they just denied our last claim. Unit was 1 year 6 months old when first reported. Try to follow me:

Seams at the bottom of the overhang (part of 5th wheel that is over the bed of pick up) were seperating. I kept trying to re caulk them, but they would seperate again. It was worse when the trailer was attached to the truck. I brought to CW and they did massive diagnostic to finally determine that the manufacture had failed to put lumber in the channels on the base of the trailer. This lumber is there because when they put the chassis of the trialer on, they run lag bolts into the lumber, it's what holds it all together. So my unit was rolling around with lag bolts just run through holes in the channels, metel to metel. Lags bent or broke.

So when the truck was connected to the truck, the upward lift of the king pin lifted the chassis up off the trailer small amounts. The seperation in the seal caused water damage. Now hold that thought, the upward lift caused the sereration.....

My written response was that the claim was denied due to clause 11 in our contract, and they highlighted BOWED WALLS AND CEILINGS......This would be caused by downward force, not upward lift.

This contract is complete garbage. Especially if they want to interpert this any way they want!

DON'T BUY ONE THROUGH GOOD SAMS!!!!!!

Just my opinion of course. But I plan on making sure I get this out to as many potential buyers as I can.

This is a MFG defect. Your trailer should be brought back to the factory for proper repairs. Forget the warranty company, even if you get them to cover the repair it will be half-a#$.
  • I've had several items quickly covered by Xtra-Ride. Wastegate valve, Furnace, A/C, awning motor. Nothing major but they covered each item without question.

  • We have 2014 Jayco Octane we bought new, with the extended warranty. Will not cover skylight, seams separating on couch and chair, roof liner pulling out from behind trim, and who knows what else. Save your money, wish I had since I will need it for a expensive roof repair from bad design or construction. I just covers "mechanical items", except things like brakes, bearings, axles, etc. I guess if the frame broke it might be covered, but I could buy a nice welder for the cost of the warranty.
  • I have the Sams extended warrantee. Had 2 major issues and they didn't cover either of them. Don't bother.

Just curious, what has it been in the shop for?

Yes, please detail the problems you've had and your experiences in getting them fixed.

  • We've had Xtra-ride by Protective on our last two units and have no complaints at all. They've been a great company for us.
  • We were offered one with our new Sundance in 2008, read the fine print, only covered items that generally you don't have problems with so we saved that $2,000. Still have 5er and no major problems yet.....knock on wood.
