Fantastic Fan vs Maxxair vs something else

Looking to install at least one vent fan on my KZ. It's wired for a front A/C, but only has a vent. Thinking about adding a fan vent in the living room, too; specifically, one with a remote control, including open/close. I can =just= reach it without a stool, but DW can't. Not sure I'll do a remote unit for the front vent as I can easily reach that one. I like the Maxxair as it pretty-well blocks all light through the vent, which the Fantastic Fan does not. I'd likely go whole hog and get the FF with a rain sensor, too, since that's not a problem with the MA and I don't want to install one of those rain covers; I'm tall enough without adding another 10" or so.

Looking for any comments about the 2 fans regarding installation, quality, longevity and anything else you might have to say regarding them. If you've got a rec for something =other= than these two, please chime in.

FWIW, my old Komfort had a FF factory installed and I really loved it.

I’ve had two rigs with FF. The current one is 3 years old and two of them developed a squeaky sound this last spring. FF quickly sent me two new motors at no cost.

All that being said, if I was buying one I’d favor the MaxxAir that raises and lowers with its own rain hood. Every inch on top of fifth wheels these days is an obstruction waiting for a low limb.

I have that one on my trailer and really like it. I want to buy one for my new motorhome but they don't appear to be made anymore! I liked that it installed over the existing vent instead of having to remove all the caulking and reseal a new vent.

I agree, can't remember the model, but the lid can stay open even in the rain, with the fan running or not. The remote has programmable temp setting, 10 fan speeds and is reversible.

Whatever you do dont waste your money on one of those cheaply made Hengs fan. Went through two of them and are absolute garbage. Picked up a Maxxair earlier this year and really like it.

I would opt NOT for the rain sensor. I've had experiences with the MaxxAir, while camping in cooler climates, condensation drips from the cover onto the sensor making the fan inoperable until the moisture evaporates.

Agree with greende above....good suggestion.

Ours is too high to reach without a step stool....which ever you get upgrade to the model with a remote...

I have the FF with rain sensor and remote in the living room because of the height. Neither DW or I can reach the manual one. It works great and I love it. I have no experience with the other brand.
