Front landing gear lube

Hi All,

Thanks in advance.

A couple of times a year I do regular maintenance on my 5er. I check the caulking, lube the slides and the rear stabilizers. As I was doing it the other day I thought about the front landing gear. I check it out both inside and out and make sure nothing is loose. I was wondering if there is anything I should do as far as lubing them.

I have electric landing gear. I don't see anywhere that may need this done but I am wondering what if anything other do. I try to stay up on maintenance to prevent problems

Thanks
  • Mine do not have any way to grease the screw gear. Mine came with a pretty heavy dollop of grease on the screw gear nut. I could lube the drop legs but they move fine without any and lube, open to the elements, attracts dirt.
  • My FW has grease zerks, near the top of the landing legs. I just gave mine two strokes each side, this past summer.

You can remove the leg covers on top to see inside. I had to use a mirror.

I think it made my landing gear run a little quieter.
