Ft. McCoy Wisconsin

Are there any campgrounds that are within an hour of Ft. McCoy Wisconsin. We are planning to visit in Sept. Son is stationed there. We are looking for a quiet place. No need for a pool, tennis courts and etc. Any suggestions?
  • Ft. McCoy is near Sparta, WI. I have no experience with campgrounds in that area.

I can tell you, though, that many campgrounds in that area and further north turn off the water and close for the season at the end of September. Be sure to bring warm clothes, nights can get to 32 degrees ot even below.

The trees will be turning, so it is a beautiful time to be in Wisconsin. There are many fall festivals, so be sure to check events calendars. The town of Warrens is famous for its Cranberry festival. They have a huge craft sale, and offer tours of the cranberry bogs.
  • Hi, There is a campground right on base, 115 sites, 35 full hook-ups. Have him make reservations, more amenities then most public campgrounds, if you need more info e-mail me. Dan
  • We stayed at Ft. McCoy with some friends that are retired military. He actually deployed to Afghanistan from McCoy, so it was a sentimental return for them.
  • Here are a couple:

My boss has a seasonal at Neshonoc, we used to have one at Goose Island. I haven't stayed at Vets park. Both Neshonoc and GI are nice. Neshonoc is closer to McCoy. There is also one at McCoy as well. Haven't stayed there, either. Enjoy your visit to our neck of the woods.
