Full Time 5th Wheel.

My wife and I are looking into living in a 5th. wheel. We have one now but it's a 34'. Like to get a larger one that's good for yer round weather. I am concerned about extra wait with a larger trailer. I have a 1996 Ford F350 with the 7.3. I like the Mobil Sweets but very heavy. What are your thoughts?

If you are buying a used fifth wheel I would recommend looking at a 2007 - 2009 Citation / Corsair 34.5 ckts Platinum. These trailers are very well built. They have a GVWR of 15,500 lbs, lots of storage cabinets and were guaranteed to be comfortable in -30 degrees. Although the 34.5 ckts model only measures 35'4" in length it has large slides which provide a large living area. They are not as elegant as a Mobile Suite which is a good thing in my opinion.

Ford has some really good rebates on the XLT now. Going to order an F450 XLT tomorrow. Go on to Ford website and request a brochure on the Super Duty. Ford should put a certificate on the dealers computer for you that gives you an additional $750 savings. Try it then mention it to the dealer. I do it anytime I order or purchase a new Ford vehicle. Post up what you have, 34' is not a bad size. We are going full time in a 32' Keystone Copper Canyon. We have made some upgrades, but have spent time into the teens temperature wise.

Look into Kz Durango Gold Line https://www.kz-rv.com/, we have the G384RLT, tons of room and GVWR if 14k max but you will feel like your living in a small apartment with all the room ...

The Durango Gold line is made for full time living without all the bing an gleam of the higher end units with a much lower price tag an quality build ...

OP'er welcome to the forum. I agree with the others try using what you got at first. You can always upgrade later.

Welcome to the forum thdunn!! Lots of good people here! Hope your future full time adventure works for you! Like mentioned, you may want to start out with current rig, before investing in whole new one. If all goes well, you can always update to a new rig.

WE FTd in a 34' 5th wheel for 7 yrs.

Roughly 280 sq/ft

40' is only going to get you and extra 40 sq/ft (320 sq/ft)
But is going to limit some places due to length

Unless you plan on new truck keep what you have and go.
Mobile Suites....not enough truck plain & simple

As for 'weather'..if your current 5vr does not have an enclosed belly.....slap some insulation up in there, run a furnace duct down into area around tanks and enclose it with sheets of coroplast (sign shops/hardware box stores and self tapping screws)
