In 1997 I was going up the mountain out of Travelers Rest, SC on hwy. 26 on my way to Ashville, NC. with a new bike rack installed on the rear bumper of my new Terry FW. I was carrying four new bikes, never used, when a car pulled up along side and signaled me to stop. After going back and looking, I found the hitch had broken, and the new bikes dragging on the ground. A sickening sight for sure. I finally dug out the last bike, and gave it to some kid. I still have parts of the broken hitch, never used it again. Like others have said, anything can happen, even when you prepare for it, it will happen when you lease expect it. Nice rack though.
