For everyone , please remember , markup and discount off are two completely different beasts. The dealer needs to make a profit , to be there to service you.
Baloney!
Sounds like the mega-buck retailer...
"Needless Markup"!!..:R
Or something a salesperson would tell you, ROTFL.
OP:
You said you're in no hurry.
If that's the case - get on the Internet, find the best price -anywhere in the USA- if you *order* the unit (not "dealer stock").
Then get it on paper.
Now, shop that price around to dealers closer to you.
Decide if you're willing to travel to save $xxx - or will a closer dealer come close?
If you must have a unit "now" you are in competition with everyone else who is looking (and also "negotiating").
Depending on demand, the dealer can pick and choose (wait for) the deal *he* likes.
"The dealer needs to make a profit to be there to service you".
YIKES! - what if you're not "there"..:h
Is the dealer is going to "service you" when you're 3K miles away?.:S
And....Many dealer's "service" is a a joke!
You'll find out if it's good or bad - *after* the dealer has your money..:S
MSRP: *some* manufacturers post MSRP for the unit & options.
That's reliable info.
A dealer's price sheet with MSRP isn't worth the paper it's printed on.
Hang in there, and happy negotiating!..:B
