Grand design solitude?

We bought a GD Reflection 303, took delivery on Jan. 16th. We have been through it twice not counting the PDI and have yet to find any issues or anything we don't like. The founders of GD.are the same guys that started Keystone. You should look at the GD forum, they have a tech section that is answered directly by GD customer service. Bill Fenech also watches the forum and answers when subjects concern him. We are very pleased with our purchase and would do it again.

I've got a Grand Design Solitude 369RL. I've had it almost a year, and I'm totally pleased with it.

Where do you get your information from?

Any comparable Montana or Big Horn have a 15,500 or 16,000 GVW, which is what the Solitude has also. Even empty weights are similar, at 12,500- 13,500lbs. What do you think makes them lighter?

Heartland uses a 10" I beam except on "larger models", which is the same for GD. Montana advertises a 12" frame, but what they don't tell you is that it is a 12" main frame, but an 8" drop frame up front, where it really matters.

Even your Redwood with a Lippert/Falcon FIT chassis is a 12" main, and 10" drop....and uses 7000lb axles.

If they are really using a 10 inch I Beam, they are behind the times. Montana and Big Horns have all switched to 12 inch I Beams. And the Solitude for being as big as they advertise is actually lighter than many other brands.

Their made by Grand Design, And McClain's RV has a whole bunch in stock. Nothing special about them really, just a warmer looking exterior.

Grand Design produces the Solitude and Reflection 5th wheels and the Momentum toy hauler. I was looking at the other major companies, ie Keystone, Heartland, Dutchmen etc. I did many hours and days of research leading up to the Hershey RV show so I would be well educated on as many aspects of the toy haulers I could find.

I ended up buying the Momentum at the show. The quality of craftmanship and the design I found to be the best in the industry.

The 3 gentlemen that are the owners have many, many years in the industry. 2 of them started Keystone before selling Keystone to Thor and the other was with Dutchmen. The General manager was also from Dutchmen. Also they hired what they perceived to be the best manufacturers and paid them the highest wages to lure them away form there previous jobs. All the team leaders are Amish and take great pride in there work.

There is plenty of info on the internet about Grand Design and the executives of Grand Design. There is also some informative videos on youtube. Just search Grand Design RV. There is also a Grand Design owners forum that you can ask question and the owners frequently respond to questions themselves.

I have looked at them and actually recently bought the Grand Design Reflection. We love the trailer and really liked the Solitude as well.
While the company is about 1 year old, they seem to be producing a quality product. We had to order ours, as they were selling faster than they could get them. Lazy Days is one of the larger RV places that sell them and they are located in Tampa, Fl and Tucson, Az.

It is a double stacked 10" I beam frame.

10" in the drop frame front, under 10" main frame.
