Heartland Silverado 38QBS

I've posted this over on the Heartland owners forum but not a lot of traffic over there. Anyone own this model and what do you think about it?

My 2006 Cardinal 362BHS-LE has treated me right but just like all the new upgrades on the new ones. The Silverado has almost everything we are looking for.... bigger frig, king bed, outside kitchen, 2nd AC, more sitting room in the main area than my Cardinal and not giving up any length. Really wanted the 6 point leveling but I've only seen that on the Keystone Mountaineer bunkhouse and they want a little more than I'm trying to spend.

I've looked at the Elkridge models and the one they call the resort but the 38QBS has the floor plan we like the best.

Any opinions would be great. Thanks, Jeff
  • I have looked at this model as well and love it. I just need to sell my rig first as I cant afford to trade it in. LOL
  • Looks like the Gateway by Heartland is in their so-called luxury line and has a very similar floor plan as the Silverado. The price of the Gateway is not that much more compared to the Silverado.
  • The Silverado version is a somewhat stripped down Big Horn. It has lower insulation values and less features. You don't see many of them on the lots or in campgrounds. For not much more money I would opt for a Big Country or Big Horn. Those two along with the Landmark all come off the same assembly line and have similar construction.

    B.O.
  • If you are thinking about FULLTIMING I would look at the Excel,
Auto leveling, dual pane windows,, two 15,000 AC/ Heat pumps are a must. IMO!!!
  • You can get the Lippert Level Up 6 way leveling system on Dutchmen. My 2014 Dutchmen Infinity 3210RE came with it. We had a 1999 New Vision Ultra 3452PX3, 36' ext length. Bought it new in '99 and loved it. After my bilateral knee surgery, my wife thought I was getting too old to do the manual set up, and so, we started looking. Pricing is pretty good. Got it from Best RV, but I also saw that Camping World carries the same model.
I love the Level Up System. It is truly push button leveling. Take a look at the video on the Lippert (the manufacturer) Website, www.lci1.com. You literally push a couple of buttons to unhitch, then level. Best of all, when you recouple, push a button, and the system raises the fifth wheel to hitching height. How cool is that? (I am in no way affiliated with Lippert. I'm just an old guy who found a great product.)
As far as space is concerned, it's got it. Just like you, we were afraid of loosing the living room space that our New Vision had. Exterior length by measurement on the Dutchmen is 35' 5". Looks like we gave up 5", but we still have the room for all our Motorhome RVing friends to congregate in this fiver like they did in the New Vision. Take a look, you might like it. (I'm also not employed by Dutchmen. We owned a couple back in the early 90's and they were very good units) Hope that helps.
