Help and Advice on a badly placed 5th wheel

So I have a 35 ft 5th Wheel, that was put into a spot (barley) with a fence right on front of it. We had to improvise to get it unhooked but managed. Problem is now, the space between the fence and the hitch is not enough for any RV movers to even attempt to move this since they can't get their truck in there easily and we don't have any other option. Is there any way to pull this thing backwards 10 feet or so to make space for a truck to hook up? I was thinking come-a-longs to the back axle but I'm not sure of balance issues. If I bring the Jack's all the way up will the 5th wheel just fall forward if not hooked up to anything?

What was used to put it in there then?? Use the same thing to get it out. Unless the fence came after he put it or had it put where it is.

Unless that 5th wheel is a lot lighter than most, I do not see how the Legs can be fully retracted. I guarantee that if I raise my legs with out the truck under it, it will fall as fast as gravity will permit. Maybe your trailer is very light on the front over hang? I like the idea of auto rollers under the legs on strong ply wood but it still is a goat rope. Good luck with what ever you do.
(I was in Harvey also but nearer Houston.)

It's way past photo time. One pic would clear up the whole idea of how to move or just abandon In place.

Could the OP contact say the Army of local or nearest Army base to see if their air unit could use some practice w/ heavy lift by using a helicopter and move it for him?? I'm only asking/suggesting as it seems we've all gave pretty much same ideas 'cept this one. Know it's far fetched, but what the heck.

The sand complicates things. Is rotating it a viable option, or must it be pulled back?
I would second the jacks fully retracted while moving. Iโ€™m thinking jacks on 2x6โ€™s on pipes as rollers on plywood.

Texas? Can you barrow some pipes? Lay down plywood, lay pipes across, then block or stack of blocks under the low part of frame. Crank up legs to put weight on blocks, and pull. Remember the pictures of the slaves building the pyramids? Any force to slide the legs has a lot of leverage to bend things. Better to hold low...

you really need to post pictures if you want to get solid advice. Without that it is just speculations...

In that case I'd use 1 1/4" tongue and grove subfloor plywood. 4 sheets, use 2 at a time. Jacks fully up.

If possible use side straps to keep the headpin straight.

I appreciate the actual ideas. I should of originally posted as DIY methods without wasting cash As stated before.

1. Fence is not ours, no we cannot remove it plain and simple.

2. This is in Rockport Texas, the ground is sandy and usually wet and heavy equipment without a good weight dispersion will likely get stuck, including trucks. Pull it back 10-20 ft the ground stiffens up but hookup point is sand

3. The person that put it there a few years ago is no longer around. He only did it cause he really needed some cash. Movers as I've said will not do this, it doesn't matter if we pay them, they will not attempt it unless we can pull it back some more. Noone wants to work unless its easy work.

4. This place was directly hit by the landfall of Hurricane Harvey.

5. We are not the kind of people who dont have money to waste on moving something just 50 yards, the hurricane ruined us. We live in the RV, it's not a fun time road toy.

6. There's always a way to DIY if your not lazy and I assumed someone here would have done something similar before.

The physics of a well oiled sanded board seem sound. If it slides well it's not going to bend the jacks. I'm going to go with this method.

A pair of good quality car dollies under the jacks on a piece of 3/4 plywood might work. Iโ€™d prob then use a come along to pivot it around where it is accessible.

He will not spend the $$$ to rent a forklift for the day, he sure as heck wont pony up for that.....

I'd remove the fence, grab the 5'er, replace the fence...

Or just rent a lift for the day
