Help trailer brakes went out (UPDATE)

Today while on our way to San Diego the brakes on our 2012 Jayco Eagle 5er stopped working. At first it was intermittent then they just stopped all together. Our TV is a 2007 Ford with an integrated brake controller. I have checked all fuses on the truck and confirmed that there is power to the trailer plug so the problem must be in the trailer but I don't even begin to know how to trouble shoot this. We are currently in an RV park in tehachapi CA with reservations for tomorrow in SD. HELP!!!

I agree with the others on checking the ground connections.

You say that there is voltage at the plug, but is that at the brake terminal or at the 12 volt battery charge terminal? There should be only be voltage at the brake terminal when the brake pedal is pushed. JMO

I have confirmed that when the controller is activated that there is power to the trailer brake terminal on the plug.

On our last truck I though that the trailer brakes were bad and found out it was my truck brake controller.

Pull the emergency brake cable and do a pull test to see if the brakes work. Do not plug the trailer brake/lights cable in while doing this test. If the brakes work in this test then look at wiring or clean the electrical plug with contact cleaner. Chris
