Help with tires

Given that is most likely has 15" rims, Carlisle's newest radial Trail HD or Goodyear's new Endurance would be good choices. Chris

I have had 2 sets of Maxxis tires on my other trailer. Good tire but hard to find. My discount tire dealer had to order them and when I blew one they had none in stock. Mt present tire is the Carlisle RH and so far no issues.

I was enamored with Maxxis for a while, but with the newer Carlisles (I have a set of RH's) and Maxxis still limiting speed to 65 mph, as well as a number of reported issues in the past couple years, I'll stay away from them. Both the FWs I'm looking at have 15" wheels (the Jayco has a 16"/Maxxis option), but both are lighter than my current FW, so I feel pretty confident that there are now more than a few good 15" options that I don't need to go to 16"...unless I really want to run LTs. Since I rarely tow > 65 at any time, the extra speed rating just figures into my "safety margin". :-)

On my 10k Jayco I went with Kenda LRE from trailer tires and wheels, and no problems.
There are plenty of choices in a 15" LRE ST tire: Hercules, Carlilse, Gladiator, Maxxis, Kenda, and more.

For any type of RV I always suggest Hankook if it is in your size. The price can't be beat and they are close to Michelin.

Actually we've had over 30 members report issues with their Maxxis ST tires so I wouldn't place them as reliable.......just proven popular with on some rv websites.

The higher speed rated tires (81+ mph) is more about the the tires ability to with stand internal heat and quality of tire.
Who pulls a trailer at 81+ mph ?? Lots of folks.

Keep in mind the ST tires aren't made just for the rv trailer industry.
My 10k 18' car hauler with ST235/85-16 E Providers with my blue tractor/loader/7' mower (9640 lbs on the axles) at legal 75 mph speed on the interstates near me. With over 21k miles their good for another couple of years.

I have been told to put a "R" rated tire they will talk the heat of the ride and you will have less blow outs

MAXXIS has a good following and I have been running mine a few years with no issues.
If spending money today I would buy Goodyear Endurance that was just released.

2830 covers the full GVWR and they are speed rated about 85 MPH vs 65 for most ST. You will need high pressure snap-in or metal stems to go 80 psi.

You are also assured to get fresh tires.

Not many 15" LT tire sizes left anymore with 1/2 ton trucks going to 17"/18"/20" tires.

Your ST225/75-15 C load range/50 psi tire has 2150 lb capacity.

I would go with a ST225/75-15 D load range/65 psi at 2540 lbs capacity for a big 20 percent reserve capacity. This size tire is very common and available just about anywhere.

Maxxis is another option but not speed rated same as the new gen ST tires and not all sizes have the nylon tread cap overlay.

You don't need a E load range 15" tire on that small trailer. Some 15" wheels aren't rated for 80 psi so check them if you go that way.
