How long to wait for delivery

I just signed papers on 2018 Reflection 5th wheel and it’s one they have on the lot. I delivered the check to them and now they tell me it will take another week before they ewill have it ready for the PDI. Is it normal to take another week after final closing to pick up your unit? I do not live near the dealer. We have already made two round trip journeys to get the deal done 3 hours each trip. They actually wanted to put it off another five days.
The sales and finance departments did a great job and we were very pleased with them. Service department is beginning to tarnish the experience.
We are camped out in the trade in no where near our home base but that doesn’t seem to phase them.
Is this normal? Or am I being unreasonable in my expectations?

When I bought my last 5th wheel it took a week before they would set me up for PDI. I think it has more to do with their schedule than how many things are wrong or what they test or do to the RV before walking thru the PDI with you. If they're selling lots of RV,s then it would make sense that you can't just pick it up in a day or two. I've bought 3 so far and all took almost a week or longer for a PDI appointment.

And make sure to pull the panel behind the water inlet and check everything good. They are known for waterleaks seeing they use waterhose behind the panel

If they bother to actually hook stuff up...or install it in the proper flow direction...

Totally understand your focus on proper direction of flow since tomorrow they will very much be going against the flow. Enjoy!;)

Congrats on your new Grand Design Reflection!!

Our new one that we ordered came in and they took a week with it and they only had a small down on it. We didn't stroke the check for it till we finished our PDI. The service shop was very busy and were delivering a couple of units most days. We are glad that they took this time and they showed us the checklist they used to go through the unit.

Ours was a 2018 Reflection also. Grand Design had quite a list that the dealer had to go through plus we had slide toppers to install plus install our Reese Elite Air Bourne Sidewinder pin box. I sure know I didn't want to try changing out myself. The thing weighs about 170#. I know when I put it together it was a job man handling the thing to install the turret on it and toque it to 250 lb ft. Then loosen it back up and torque back to 45 lb ft.

We are a little lucker than you as our dealer is only about an hour from us

Guys thanks for your input. I may not have made myself clear. I fulltime and been so for some time so I’m not in a rush to go out. I appreciate that they are thorough. I just expected them to have done most of this when they took delivery from the manufacturer and not wait until the customer paid for it. Then I would assume they would take a couple of days to double check it after the sale. Their response to me is that is their company policy because they didn’t want to get one ready and then a customer back out. To me that means they won’t guarantee anything until it’s sold, therefor what you We present on our lot isn’t necessarily sound but we’ll check it out after you own it.

When you pick it up make arrangements to stay overnight at the dealer lot or an RV park in the area so you can test every system and machanical part of the RV

You've given up your bargaining power since the unit is now paid for. You can complain and nag at the dealer, but they really have no need to rush, they have your money. You simply have to rely on the good will of the dealer.

And this does not bode well for any issues found during the PDI. If they're putting you off now, what will they do with problems found during the PDI? Keep your fingers crossed.

Don't let your desire to get out camping rush the process when you actually do your final inspection. Even though you will have a warranty, this is your strongest position you will ever be in with both the dealer and the manufacturer. Trying to get things fixed down the road will undoubtedly take much more time and hassle than it will right now.

(cynicism=on)

Given the quality of what most mfrs put out, that week is for the dealer to finish what the mfr left undone and to fix the stuff that they =did= do, but didn't do right...or what broke on the delivery run.

Well, that depends if they are taking that entire time to go through the new unit to test everything. Last thing you want is to get it home and find something wrong with it. Now, if they just "cant get around to it", well thats totally another story, and unacceptable in my book.
