How much do you love your backup camera

Thinking of getting a backup camera for 5er. Have you found it as useful as you thought it would be? Also, if you installed it aftermarket, what brand did you choose and why?

I have the Furrion also and love it! Use it more for driving than backing but it helps in both cases. I love being able to see when I can safely pull into traffic after passing and when backing it will show if I am close to something straight behind.

Last week I was backing out of my back yard at night. I couldn't figure out why I was having so many problems seeing where the gate was. It was dark but I have done this dozens of times. Finally figured out my camera was not out yet!

BTW, the furrion mount SUCKS!! had to get a bean bag mount for the dash

I had the 12 that came from the factory on our Montana. It was powered on all the time and burned out after about 8 months. They took it back and allowed me to get the 48 by paying the price difference. Much better and I wired it to the running lights so it did not run all the time. I really only use it for backing but sometimes in traffic it helps because people will get 4 inches off your bumper and you can't see them.

Although the camera is of little use when backing up, the speaker is very helpful. As my husband backs up, he can see me and I can talk to him without yelling, and I can use hand signals to tell him when to stop or switch direction. On the road he likes to see when people are trying to come around on both sides. As mentioned, that can be distracting too. The extended sideview mirrors are the greatest asset. On occasion when the monitor can't get a signal, we do fine without it.

Tadi Brothers hard wired works for me. I like it when passing in heavy traffic areas so I can be sure when to cut in, and it alerts me when someone sneaks up on the trailer's back bumper and is out of mirror sight. Just another tool but I was very used to them on my MH. I also have one on a magnetic holder that I can quickly put on the roof to help in hooking up if necessary... most times not needed.

I have a BC 20 camera connected to my Garmin 760LMT GPS. Best thing camera works well and I dont need an additional monitor since it displays on GPS screen.
Nevertheless I am not a fan of rear cameras. I find them distracting while driving. I can see everything I need 90 per cent of the time while backing simply using my mirrors. I dont find the rear cameras to be truly necessary

I've had three backup cameras. one a cheap add on, next to worthless too small, smart phone in size. second one factory in Highlander, too small. last one in Tacoma, 7 inches or so. works/looks great. very useable.
anything under about 5 inches would be junk IMHO.

Furrion 48 here. It works pretty well going down the road. Don't use it much for backing up. I like it on the highway to know when to pull back in when passing. I could easily get by without it. Monitor is another chunk to hang on the dash somewhere. Add that to the TPS monitor, cellphone and the GPS to replace the crappy factory navigation system GM ripped me off $500.00 for and it gets crowded.

I have three rear cameras on the back of the fifth wheel, one on each rear corner and one center. I wouldn't run without them. They're hard wired to a 7" screen, but I don't remember the brand name right on the spot now. Color with infra red for night use. I don't need them for general backing purposes.
